Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

Now this is a new one......using ones own laziness as an excuse for Disney's bland and miserable merchandise selection.
Laziness, convenience, time management. Whatever.

I wonder if all guests want to have to browse every single shop or would they rather go into a couple shops and see everything.

The fact is, both scenarios have benefits and drawbacks. Do I want to be able to buy truly unique items while I am on vacation? Absolutely. Do I want to spend a considerable amount of my vacation browsing a thousand stores to make these purchases? Absolutely not.

Realistically Disney has way to much retail space to fill with completely unique stuff, so redundancy has to happen. But the offer of something unique should still be on the table, even if it's only a handful of stores.

Wow what I said went right over your head. Let me try again....
If a shake stand is right beside a burger joint YOU would obviously say that they both help each other do business because the burger joint draws people to it that go next door and get shakes too. And YOU would also apparently say that the shake place helps the burger joint cause people stop by and get a burger with thier shake but they are both losing sales to the other because the smart business man builds a Dairy Queen right next door and sells burgers and shakes and puts them out of business. I can't make this any simpler but not everyone has a head for business. Every penny UO makes comes from WDW's pot. Every single penny. If disney had UO's exact product, very few people if any, would go there.

1. Your acting like a jerk, feel free to continue but it was it not called for as I was just bringing up a point of view.

2. Last year I directly managed $123,000,000 in sales and 420 associates in as competitive a business market as any. I have a little bit of understanding of business, sales, competition, customer sevice and market share. I have been doing this for 15 years now, you pick up a thing or two along the way. :)

You can post your viewpoint like anyone else but what you can't do is say those who disagree with you have no understanding of business.

WDW nor Uni has any belief they are putting the other out of business. Their business models are not based on that. If you are of the belief that neither try's to capitalize off the other in their business plans then fine. I happen to think otherwise.

You brought up Wal-Mart, you ever wonder why Kohls, Home Depot, Lowes etc seem to open up very near WalMarts. They sell many of the same products, why would they do that? To pick up the overflow customers from Walmart. It's smart business on their part.

Feel free to reply, but no need to be rude and condescending. :)

You can't tell me Universal Studios in CA is more than a one day park

When did I ever say that?

I'll tell you this, I've never gotten everything done in a single day at USH. With the new offerings coming, it'll be even harder to do everything (including shows), especially since a special nighttime version of the studio tour is coming.

I agree 100% with you that they feed off of each other and actually help each other. Its the same reason car dealers are next to each other.

I agree soarin is not much more than a scratch n sniff book set to a low fi movie...but it's not claiming to be the greatest thing ever imagined like some people are making this train ride out to be. Universalites have something to be proud of for once but don't tell me hog warts express is any kind of technical marvel

Actually when Soarin' Over California opened in 2001 at DCA, people were claiming the ride to be the most amazing thing they'd ever experienced. I was definitely one of those people.

And please, continue to ignore the fact that Universal has had the best attraction in town for the past 15 years, the two best attractions in town for the past five, and (according to virtually everyone who has been on Gringotts) now the top three attractions in Orlando. It adds to your "charm".
Who are these people that rank the best attractions that you speak of? And having the best 3 attractions is a very nice trophy to have if their were such things...even if it is "the best attraction in Orlando" according to the few thousand people that rode it...are people going to just throw down their mouse ears and cry into mickey foam hands? I am going to universal for the 1st time in nine years

I think the most blown away I've ever been by any new technology was the original back to the future ride back when it opened...Disney did copy that for star tours and never created something as good

There are the Thea Awards that were poured on Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmead. But those are just decided on by people who design and build theme park attractions.
