Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

Universal has a headliner attraction not ready to open with a wait time of over 300 minutes on opening day. Seems like 1990 all over again, but worse.
Oh, quiet you. You have little ground to stand on criticizing an innovative attraction's downtime (on day one no less) when Animal Kingdom's premiere attraction has had a broken centerpiece for 7 years.

And it's telling that one of the most popular and well done interiors is the Be Our Guest Restaurant, which I have no desire to stand in that long line for just to see the inside. Couldn't we have gotten a really well done Beauty & The Beast dark ride?
Or that "BATB Tiki Room" concept pitched for Paris?

I waited 30 minutes at lunch for Be Our Guest, and make a reservation at dinner. It is a great attraction to experience.
Just because you waited in a line does not mean its an attraction. I know some people may consider BoG an attraction but its just a restaurant (a nice one). I waited in a line to use the restroom, that doesnt make the toilet and urinal cakes an attraction though.

I don't know... those bathrooms make for a MAGICAL experience!

Unless my food starts singing and dancing, Be Our Guest is indeed just a nice restaurant

I'm not saying knock the place or be negative, either, it just seems that the attitude sometimes is how dare anyone say anything remotely bad about the place. All parks have their faults, and some are becoming blinded, IMO, to Universal (as much as some are blinded by Disney). It was just a statement of what I'm noticing.

But yes, ET needs a refurb, and Toon Lagoon has looooong been a waste of space.

The problem I have is that same principle applies to WDW as well when it comes to some posters. People are quick to criticize and don't realize they are doing the same thing just vice versa.

I grew up on Disney and still love the place but Uni is doing way more exciting things in their parks right now. Disney simply doesn't have the ambition that they once did. WDW is stale. It still holds a lot of nostalgia for me and when I enter Main Street I still get the feeling of being a kid again. However, I'm much more excited about Uni's future as well as the tangible evidence of what has actually been built over the past 5 years.

Does it suck that you can see the Forbidden Journey show building from the queue? Yes. Does the Hulk coaster have no theming? Yes.

Is it awful that the Yeti is closing in on a decade of not working? Yes. Are the numerous cutbacks and money grabs borderline despicable? Absolutely.

Be Our Guest seems to be an OK place....nice inside from the pictures but the food is ekkkk.
Given that you are scoring the interior based on pictures, I am assuming that you haven't eaten there. Therefore, how can you judge the food?

I've only eaten there at lunch, but that was quite good.

You're allowed to be pro DisneySea, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Resort - those actually have some stellar theming/additions

WDW hasn't done anything on Universal's scale (Hogsmeade, DM, TF, Springfield, Diagon, Cabana, CityWalk 2.0, Kong in a 5 yr span) in quite some time as far as E tickets go (2003-2006 was the last era )

We don't hate WDW and blindly love Uni. They've earned our respect through their recent dedication to immersion and high quality. WDW is still okay - and I agree both resorts have improvements to make.

WDW's is much longer considering 3 parks could use a massive overhaul/expansion and 1 could use some reworked park infrastructure to allow expanded capacity/no bottlenecks

You might as well explain that to your shoe.

I wasn't judging it. I just meant that the food wouldn't be the type of food for me

Hulk at least has the premise laid out in the preshow that the roller coaster is supposed to be some particle accelerator project of Banner's trying to find a cure for himself, not to mention the Marvel Universe presented in Super Hero Island is basically one where all the super-technology takes the form of amusement park rides like Doom's space shot being a fear extractor, the Storm Teacups being some generator built to counter Magneto, and JJJ blowing a ton of money on EMV vehicles for reporters like how he was a backer on the Spider Slayer project.

haha some of you really show your true colors I tell ya...

how dare anyone like ANYTHING at WDW and not droll over EVERYTHING at Uni sheez

Ok... I'm going to come out and say it.

Both sides of this argument really crack. me. up.

@WDWDad13 I'm not responding directly to you, but rather quoting you because your statement here is directly related to the point I'm about to make.

Pixie dusters are all screaming that everyone is bashing Disney and that HP fans are claiming that Uni can do no wrong.

Uni fans are claiming that all Disney fans are pixie dusters who will never admit that Disney has any flaws and are obviously blind to what a fantastic park Uni really is.

I'm just over here laughing because no matter what either group of fans says, both resorts are great places to visit, but they both have their fair share of flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths. Both groups of people are equally deaf to anything negative about their side or anything positive about the other, when in fact, there's no reason in the world why anyone has to choose one set of parks over the other. Sure, not everyone can afford to visit both on every trip... DH and I fall into that category. We did a trip a few years ago where we only went to Uni, and this last June we only went to WDW. As much as I like Disney, we very well may end up going to Uni the next time we visit Orlando. Or not. I don't know, because I have no idea when we'll even be going back, much less what we'll do when we get there. But if I choose to visit Uni and not hit WDW while we're there, it doesn't mean I'm not a Disney fan. Or vice versa.

To an extent, the same should be true with these discussions. Just because I defended the appearance of DA doesn't mean I have any kind of dislike for NFL. On the flip side of the same coin, just because I enjoy going to HS for RnRC and ToT, I'm not disallowed from having just as much fun at either Uni park.

It's perfectly fine to have an opinion one way or another, or to favor one group of parks (or even just one park) over another. But it seems like every time someone doesn't like what someone on the "other side" has to say, it automatically becomes a finger pointing session with generalizations and an assumption that one is either a pixie duster or a member of the First Church of Uni.

Not everything has to be that concrete.

My only dislike in the NFL is the Oakland Raiders. I can't stand them. Well, and the Broncos, they stink too. I guess there's also the Ravens, Jets and Colts. Boy, I'm wearing my XXL Hater Pants today!

I know, that's not what you meant by NFL, but this thread needed some humour and obvious sarcasm.

Confession time.

When I first came to these forums, it took me several visits before I realized that NFL did not mean National Football League. It took me even longer to get to a point where I did not have to remind myself of this fact every time I saw NFL anywhere. Considering I joined just two months before 7DMT opened, my first few days in here were a bit confusing. :hilarious:
