Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

New Fantasyland is a shiny new toy, and I have a feeling the Frozen event at DHS will steal some thunder from Diagon Alley and its malfunctioning headline attraction.
I like new fantasyland. Don’t get me wrong. But if it’s not changing the conversation that Disney is stagnant then it’s not enough. Individuals like you and I don’t get to decide which toy is shiniest. The masses do. And the masses are not sold. So, it’s not enough to keep people from focusing on the criticisms that Disney is stagnant.

Universal has a headliner attraction not ready to open with a wait time of over 300 minutes on opening day. Seems like 1990 all over again, but worse.

New Fantasyland has VERY pretty exteriors shoehorned into a so called "forest" (only forest I see is the queue for SDMT, and that's a sparse one at that). No need to get into this again but the interiors leave much to be desired. I'm still annoyed they put in a meet and greet and call it an attraction (Belle). Without kids, what sane adult male really wants to experience that? I miss Disney appealing to everyone, not just certain demographics. That's one of the real issues with WDW at the moment is their desire to appeal to mommies and princesses. And kids under 10.

And it's telling that one of the most popular and well done interiors is the Be Our Guest Restaurant, which I have no desire to stand in that long line for just to see the inside. Couldn't we have gotten a really well done Beauty & The Beast dark ride?

Anyway ...

God bless the "Ignore" button.

How is this worse?
This is not dissimilar to when they opened Spidey or Forbidden Journey, and those worked out fine. These kinks tend to happen when the rides you build are actually INNOVATIVE.

Be Our Guest seems to be an OK place....nice inside from the pictures but the food is ekkkk. It's a lot of space for a restaurant. Too much space. A ride would be better. The Little Mermaid could be a lot better. The AA's are not very good. Storybook Circus is for kids so I don't go in that land.

WDW is catering towards young girls. Yes, lots of money from mommy and daddy who can't say no when waiting in a 5 hour line. But than again, why rock the boat when your getting record attendance at the MK.

As for Epcot, please un-character the pavilions.

I waited 30 minutes at lunch for Be Our Guest, and make a reservation at dinner. It is a great attraction to experience.

It definitely doesnt taste like it was value engineered. How does Iger's B-Hole taste?

wow... see these are the types of comments that really make people including me question as I to why I bother actually posting thoughts or opinions on these boards. If it's pro Disney anything around here and not tingling over harry potter or Uni, I'm just a stupid pixie duster or in 74's Disney w*ore classification

I mean why bother... I go to Disney with my family and have fun and you all can go to Uni or Disney or Sea World or Six Flags and have fun I really don't care. Different stokes for different folks right... but it's about time we face the facts here and realize Disney and Uni aren't much different and aren't perfect in the sense of they all have plenty of problems and always will.

Because an on the cheap play area/show is definitely gonna steal any of DA's thunder (an immersive area with an actual E ticket);)

Frozen needed to start in May if they truly wanted to steal Diagon's thunder.

Either way, unless there was a ride... no way the thunder is stolen

God, you are insufferable. How many times have you said you don't know why you bother or have threatened to leave.? Just do it already.

LOL. No. Frozen won't be stealing any thunder. Both appeal to mostly different demographics. Everyone wants there to be some competition but there really isn't.
I completely agree with you, but I think that what the PP was saying is that Disney might get a press boost from the Frozen stuff if the Universal ride's issues aren't resolved quickly.

You're allowed to be pro DisneySea, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Resort - those actually have some stellar theming/additions

WDW hasn't done anything on Universal's scale (Hogsmeade, DM, TF, Springfield, Diagon, Cabana, CityWalk 2.0, Kong in a 5 yr span) in quite some time as far as E tickets go (2003-2006 was the last era )

IOA desperately needs indoor attractions (only 5 currently - 2 have a height requirement) and all ages/family rides (HE and Cat are the only major rides accessible to young children currently)

USF needs outdoor attractions for kinetic energy and some all ages attractions too

We don't hate WDW and blindly love Uni. They've earned our respect through their recent dedication to immersion and high quality. WDW is still okay - and I agree both resorts have improvements to make.

WDW's is much longer considering 3 parks could use a massive overhaul/expansion and 1 could use some reworked park infrastructure to allow expanded capacity/no bottlenecks
