Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

I have nice zoos near me as well in San Antonio and in Houston. But none of them are as nice as AK, I would guess most zoos are not. :)

If someone does not want to pay to experience that side of AK then the value of the park overall goes down. Heck we spent almost two hours at Planet Watch last month alone.

No doubt if rides are your primary interest then it's not a all day park. For us it is, in fact we are planning two days at AK when we go in Jan.
See, that is what makes us Universal fans seem so weird. We expect amusement parks to actually have rides. We like rides. New rides. State of the art rides.

I live in Florida. The whole freakin' state is a nature trail. I can, for free, see actual wildlife in an actual natural environment 5 miles from my house.

Hey, that dark side is Disney now. :p

The issue with AK as well as Epcot and DS is a lack of quality attractions that somebody that has been there hundreds of times actually wants to ride. When I go to AK, its Everest, Dinosaur, Safari if line isn't bad or I have FP and maybe Kali if it is hot out and the line isn't too bad or I have FP. On a light day or with FP I can "do the park" in 2 hours or less.

Studios is worse. No way I'd wait for TSMM. I rode it once and I don't need to wait that long (or waste FP+) to play a few 3D video games for 5 minutes. There it is R'nR, ToT and Star Tours. 2 hours MAX.

Epcot has either Soarin' or TT (depending on FP+ reservation), possibly TT as single rider if Soarin' FP+ reserved, SSE and sometimes Nemo if I want to check out the Seas that day. 2 or 3 hours.

That is all compared against MK which I won't list all but has 13 or 14 rides/attractions worth doing for the 100th time. Everything isn't E-Ticket, just high quality and worth riding. I can spend a whole day at MK. With legacy fastpass I could do the other three parks combined in a little more than a half day in the slow season.

I don't know if I can say this eloquently enough but the difference between AK and Epcot and universal studios for me is u can be transported.

AK and World Showcase transport u as soon as u step in. Besides Dinorama, There are numerous spots in AK where u can sit and literally forget where u are for hours. I would argue there has never been a more fully immersive theme park ever built in the States than AK. That will not change when Pandora is built.

Sometimes people pay $100 to escape to the beach some pay the same to be immersed and transported. Yes Uni Studios has more rides but as an immersive environment it pales to AK and The Showcase.

I LOVE Uni but I always go to the various parks for different tHings. They are so vastly different that I always find it unfair to compare

I know exactly what you're talking about but Universal has upped its game big time with Diagon Alley. It is without a doubt the most immersive theme park land I've ever been in.

complete with narrow crowded paths surrounded by tall buildings on each side

Well, to be fair, I've just seen pcitures of signs in the park (Uni/IOA) that badly need to be fixed. No park is perfect. I'm not dissing Uni (love what they're doing), but the defensive attitude that shows up once it's dared to be mentioned or "knocked" is something else.

Can someone tell them to fix Green Eggs & Ham sign? I do notice all the other updates they're doing though. It takes time to get a park back in shape after past neglect (before Comcast)

Forbidden Journey could use a nice fix up as well. I noticed a few problems with it this weekend.

Oh, stop trying. Seriously, it's pathetic.

Might not be too far from the truth. Interesting article in CNN Money today:

"It's been a rough start. July 8 wasn't the opening date that the park originally wanted, judging by the fact that it had "The Tonight Show" and "Today" run weeklong tie-ins a few weeks ago. Conveniently for Comcast, it owns both the Universal theme parks and NBC.

However, with the expansion's indoor coaster proving unreliable -- and even Universal pass holders being denied early access to attractions outside of the new Hogwarts Express train ride -- it could be an interesting debut. The crowds should be huge, the expectations lofty."

it's not pathetic... it's the truth. I'm not bashing what they have created... all I am saying is that street is going to be massively crowded with no where to walk and you are surrounded entirely by tall, dull alley-way type buildings on either side.
I hope no one is claustrophobic

Now are you bashing? From everything I have seen the shops within those buildings are anything but dull.
