Disney Playing catch up with Universal... Potter Disney's biggest mistake in 20 years...

Mainly the reason why I don't think it will is because people are becoming tired of 3D movies. It was cool at first but maybe its just my group of friends but I doubt it when it comes down to a movie they all would rather watch it in 2-D. Avatar main thing was the 3D. Without those 3D sales, it never would have gross as much.

On the subject of IPs with a great soundtrack by James Horner...

You know the theme park industry has jumped the shark when this themed land is being built.
But I'll admit I enjoyed the movie as a kid. :)
the Avatar score will be perfect for Animal Kingdom...it just sounds like animal kingdom music

The same reason every movie that was a blockbuster does well on Blu-Ray. Shrek 2 was the highest grossing animated film of the 2000s, had great DVD sales etc...Shrek the 3rd did not come close to the 2nd Shrek's success. Same thing with Lion King 1 and Lion King 2. Disney knew it would never be as successful as the first so they sent it straight to video.

so blockbusters which a lot of people liked turn into big sales for dvd blue ray?
also almost half of the people who saw GOTG opening weekend saw it in 3D so maybe 3D is not quite done after all...who knows maybe im wrong

What has been the positive marni? What has changed since 2009?

IMHO? Things couldn't get much worse. Kind of a rock bottom area.

For every positive at every level though we still move a step forward then a step back.

Space Mountain refurb. Refurb butchered.

Magic Kingdom expansion. Great style, not so much substance.

Awesome Splash Mountain refurb. Imagination 3 still exists. Wonders and odyssey closed. SSE half finished still.

DAK expansion. Magic bands cost more.

Even the little things.... Spare paint to splash around Futureworld.... Whilst RoE gets band aids on top of band aids.

I wouldn't call it positive. More run out of negatives.

I really hope Avland is what DAK needs. Of course it will help. It should be more than enough given the budget. It should be awesome. Brimming with detail and flagship attractions. But it won't be. I just hope now it looks pretty and has enough actual innovative attractions to warrant what it aims to be. Same for Star Wars. Perfect franchise. So many possibilities. But WDI and TDO just can't use money properly. And both major expansions are 5-10 years overdue. Where's the fillers in the meantime? And the continued investment in all parks and attractions both before and after?

The company has lost so much of its magic in Orlando. It is a business run for shareholders. Where's the visionary for fun and entertainment? The legacy is so strong that WDW can continue to move forward under the guise of what came before.

Life isn't that bad Marni. I survived watching the phantom menace..and I'm still a Star Wars fan and a new Star Wars movie is coming out! ...and you can do it...you can say at least one thing good about WDW. :)

I don't think a song sung by Eric Idle is the right choice to cheer someone up about WDW ;) Good song though, I'll have to start watching the Monty Python movies.

Maybe not, but my two year old twins keep playing it over and over on youtube. Cute watching them dance to it.
Marni loves Disney more them I ever could. You don't see that much attention to detail without caring. Nothing but respect!
