They should take the money they would use on this and use it for refurbs on attractions that desperately need them :lookaroun
Does anyone think this would take away from the "magic" of traveling to Disneyland or Disney World? If we could just drive an hour or so to get to a Disney themed area, we all would do it, yes. But would we then lose the novelty of going to Disney World?
Bakersfield... a lower middle class California city with a population that consists predominantly of immigrant cattle farmers and cows?If it does happen I say it will only be in L.A., NYC, Detroit and probably Bakersfield. I wouldn't even doubt Myrtle Beach, Richmond (VA) and Seattle. I say it won't get too big because of other construction plans.
I just heard this reported on CNN...also said they were considering the possibility of smaller theme parks throughout the US.
This whole thing is reminding me of the time the media caught wind of a rumor that Disney would purchase Coney Island...I'm just not seeing this coming to frutition.
Well, I can see the possiblity of more hotels becoming reality because they've already experimented with it, and it's worked (Vero Beach). However, I don't see the smaller theme park concept ever happening...maybe a show inside the hotel (sort of like casinos do) but nothing bigger than that.
Oddly, I've predicted this rumor for years. Ask any of the long time members who've known me personally... this is something that I could honestly see, and see quickly. There are so many cities in the US with rich and unique histories, as well as very unique architechtural styles that are open for Disney (Boston, Richmond, Washington, San Francisco, etc) to settle in.
I think of ideas that stem from the old ski resort idea that Walt had in mind before he died also ....
