Disney Photopass to be available on smart-phones

I would love to be able to view some of the photos on my own Iphone, that would be great! It's very time consuming to line up at one of those kiosks if you want to view your photos before you go home.

It's already available via the website, this is just a link to the photos.

A really cool thing would be a PhotoPass app where you could view the pics right in the app (I believe the PhotoPass site uses Flash, which is not compatible with iPhones or iPads so the link won't do any good for people with those devices).

Even better if they could upload them via WiFi from the photographer's camera to the Disney server so that the pics could be viewed almost immediately through the app. And it would also be great to be able to order the photos or disc(s) through the app and have the ability to pick them up at the Info Booth or hotel front desk at the end of your day or stay. With today's technology, those things are more than possible.

That's what I was thinking! I agree with your app idea. Apple just has to get on board with using Flash.

Is that really a QR code for phones... or a QR code for the photo-pass people to tag your photo to... I didn't think they would have a QR code for phones yet.

The article made me chuckle because it's such a misinterpretation of reality.

The QR code is for the photographer to scan, to link your photos to your card. QR codes have been on photopass cards since they were introduced.

The author notes "I had difficulty scanning my first QR code, even when I tried multiple code readers and smart phones."

That's because they are not meant to be read by a smartphone camera, but by the laser scanner on the Photopass photographer's pda.

The accurate part of the article is that you can view your photopass photos on your smartphone. Not by scanning a qr code but by entering your 16 digit code printed on the back.

(the QR code does contain the 16digit code so it's possible a really good camera may be able to focus on it. maybe in the future they'll print them big enough to be read by a phone. note the significant difference is size in QR codes in this photo from the article)
