That would be tricky I think, especially for the guest relations people who have to tell the guests "sorry you went all the way from Animal Kingdom to Magic Kingdom but we're already full...at 20% capacity"
I would think you could swap out on the app. I mean if they can do some of the things they do on that mde app. Why couldn’t they let me see if it’s available to secure a ticket to go over to another park. Just thinking out loud.

Surely, they'll open more slots for APs, won't they? Locals are where it's at, after all. Yes, I know people here are traveling down there... but, yeah. Locals.
I agree. When I lived in California for 6 months last year I was at the parks all the time. However locals aren’t spending money on hotels and to park their car. Which is where they do make a bit more money. I wonder if they will open up more. Hmm

This availability is bouncing all over the place, at least for AP's. This past Sunday morning I decided I wanted to get out of the house and got a same-day reservation for DHS at about 9:30 AM.

At least you have the luxury of that option, living not very far away. I'm four hours away so can't do a day trip. As such my trips always require a resort stay. So while I'm an AP holder, having the resort reservation takes precedence meaning I'm good for the whole trip.

Disney Parks Pass availability continues to be in very short supply for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders

Glad to see Disney is making sure there is ample park availability to a core group of guests like Annual Pass... oh wait...

I kid, I kid. I know “limited availability” is merely a number falling below a certain threshold and is likely aimed at spreading APs out.

In fairness, while I have an AP, I had a resort reservation. My AP was finally extended last week (it previously expired 10/11; my trip begins 10/19). I was worried I would lose out on making a park reservation. So I can understand why resort reservations get priority first. But as for tickets vs. APs, having a ticket doesn't necessarily mean having a resort reservation just as being an AP means the same thing. So you would think tickets and APs WITHOUT resort reservations would have an equal chance. But you would be wrong.

I personally would be okay with them keeping the base allocations the way they are and then maybe 2 calendar days out (on a rolling basis), release a portion of unreserved Resort Guest and Day Guest allocation into the Passholder pot. That would allow most everyone with a resort reservation to get what they desire and reduce the condition of Passholders being locked out of DHS on weekends until October.

I'm guessing close to 100% of resort guests who have a resort booked have picked their parks already. Probably the same thing with off-site guests who have tickets. I don't see why they couldn't allocate any left over "slots" from the resort guests and guests with tickets categories to APs.

This seems like such a massive and easy win that Im thinking they don't want to hit capacity. They can't buy better press than they're getting right now with the pictures of empty parks on social media and guests following safety precautions.

I agree with that. They want to make money, obviously any business does, but they're also playing it careful. The last thing they want is another shutdown. Limiting the crowds definitely helps lessen the chance of that happening.

Yeah. Also, they've already got our money, so all they have to gain from letting more passholders in is merch and food sales.

Although I'm surprised they don't do this for epcot at least

From what I hear, Epcot is super easy to get for APs. A few people I know who are local APs are planning to do F&W after work during the week since it's pretty much never blocked out. I would LOVE to be able to hit up Epcot right now.. low crowds for Food and Wine? YES PLEASE!

I have an AP. I also bought a 4 day ticket. How do I make sure those accounts are unlinked? Should I reassign the 4 day ticket to a new account under my name? And pick up that pass at a ticket window when I go? I want to use the 4 day ticket on days that are unavailable to AP's obviously, I don't want them using my AK pass tomorrow as part of the 4 day ticket when I have the AP reservation.

Slightly confused. Are you talking about booking park reservations or using the correct “ticket” to enter the parks?

If it’s to enter the parks (which is what I am reading this as), then you can go to Guest Services (or the ticket office) outside the park and ask them to prioritise whichever you want.

The current way admissions are read is... weird. But, I’ve been under the impression that the admission media is read/determined when booking the reservation. So, when you scan in in person, it would be attached to whatever admission media was used to verify the booking.

Kinda both? Lol. I have an AP and a 4 day ticket but it won’t let me book 7 days. If I’m understanding the process correctly it should.

That would be sensible, given the whole park reservation system. And I am quite impressed if I’m honest.

However I will admit, if it was me, I would at the very least ask GS to check at some point before leaving the park that the correct one was used.

Ah, that might need a call to the Technical team to fix. There was a glitch when people had two tickets, but that was fixed. An AP and a ticket though is a different problem and may not be common enough to work automatically.

I would post a number but I can only see the Uk and Europe ones. Sorry.☹️
