Don't underestimate the power of nostalgia-that-never-was. At least that's what i tell myself every time the renaissance fair rolls thru town and there's a line around the block to get in. Folks seem to love reliving the middle ages (as long as the beer flows and there's indoor plumbing)
I guess, when you put it in the prospective of a hobby, but, a line around the block is not the entire baby boomer generation. For one thing, we are getting to old to play a lot of those games and that is a reenactment of real history not a fantasy environment. I liked the place, but, I have never been what would be called connected in a way that would put me in a funk if it disappeared. Just a different view point, I guess.

You know what I meant, but if we ARE being pedantic, the Pavilions were sponsored by businesses native to that country who wanted people to come visit and spend money.
It's not pedantry, it's precision. Precision of argument brings a better understanding of why the WS looks today the way it looks.
The foreign sponsorship deals with businesses were mostly inconsequential, or even absent. Partnerships with restaurants and warehouses.

Disney did design the WS to be sponsored. When sponsorships fell through, it proceeded regardless. Not so under anymore Eisner, who left the existing WS pavilions unfinished and only added Morocco and Norway. Two rather obscure, or more neutrally stated: random, countries, because these did find large sponsorship deals with king and companies respectively.

Obscure? Random? Morocco was America's first official international ally, in 1786! To suggest that Morocco was "random" shows a distinct lack of patriotism!

I did find the Kylo Ren costume cool, and I'm not even into Star Wars. I do feel sad that it closed for that, but that's how Disney makes money. This place is indeed popular, and I once saw that Chewbacca can have wait times that are up to two hours!

Ha! Maybe on opening day but these days, it's a long line if it's 20 minutes

Wow, that doesnt seem nearly as impressive as I was expecting.
My guess is that it'll be much more impressive than a pencil drawing when it's fully built.
I'm guessing that huge berm isn't to scale?
No idea.

True for all except China and Canada. Those were all Disney.
with the close proximity of Muppet vision I wonder how high the facade will need to be to hid the Kermit balloon from the interior of the land. Great image btw! Is it user generated or.... from somewhere else ;)
@marni1971 drew it.

During the 80s, synergy was a newish concept for Disney. Eisner was pushing it hard companywide. It was a buzzword with departments in the divisions devoted to synergy. Now, it's just what the company does, everywhere.

I think you meant "It's just what the company does poorly, everywhere"

Since it's all fiction anyway, I think they could contrive a worm hole so that the SWL characters meet up with the GotG peoples.
Not sure about the 2 meeting up in a ride, but I think Star Tours could be easily converted to GoTG. I'm not sure if that is actually in the table or not since they are considering Guardians for EPCOT already, but it could make some sense.
