Disney movies that are underrepresented at Disney Parks

As a fan I'd love to see the Rocketeer make a come back at Hollywood Studios (at one point in time way back they had the cafe exterior on the back lot tour I think), but the problem being that kids now have no idea who he is. I wish they could bring something jungle book related to animal kingdom

ATLANTIS!!! Just kidding. Just saw the movie for the first time last night for our weekly pizza movie night. It was horrible, I had to keep asking if it was a Disney movie. o_O

I guess I'm the only one, but I rather like the notion of keeping the Disney movie characters to limited, specific, areas and allow the larger majority of the parks to be filled with attractions and experiences that aren't just a Cliff's notes version of the movies I've already seen.

When I think of the attractions that are my favorites and ones I believe are classic Disney theme park attractions they are almost all either not character-driven or don't use characters that are Disney film-based. Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, Expedition: Everest, the entirety of EPCOT... For me the appeal of the parks is the attention to detail and the ability of most of the attractions to make ME the star of the adventure I'm experiencing. That is so much more satisfying than seeing a 5 minute retelling of the greatest hits of my DVD shelf.

That's a really good point; I do like that Disney has a lot of attractions that are park-specific and don't cross over into other areas of the company. Not every creative endeavor needs a multi-platform tie-in. I do think that, as a fan of the studio, it can be a bummer to see some really strong films and characters go uncelebrated while others are all over the place. I'll never get the love for Tinkerbell, for instance. She was a hateful little creature in Peter Pan, but she's as synonymous with the parks as Mickey Mouse himself. In fact, she probably has more representation!

My husband would be thrilled if they added a Tron element (as long as it isn't a roller coaster because he can't ride those anymore). I'd love to see the family from The One and Only Genuine Original Family Band show up on Main Street leading a parade. They're in the right time frame for that part of Magic Kingdom and it would be a good nod back to those classic Disney musicals.

It's that sort of thinking that's been keeping Disney inside a "Princess movie and sequels" box for the last few years. Even Wreck-It Ralph was a princess story in the end.

When Disney steps out of the fairy tale comfort zone, cool things happen and Atlantis was one of those cool things. And then Shrek curbstomped it at the box office, studio execs declared 2D was dying, and 2D was on it's way out and the possibility of Disney having a cool boy friendly pulp adventure sci-fi franchise to call their own was snuffed out.

I wish they would represent 101 Dalmatians more at the parks.. it was disneys first diviation faway from princess movies
The first, except for Dumbo, Bambi, Fantasia, Saludos Amigos, Melody Time, The Three Caballeros, The Reluctant Dragon, Alice in Wonderland, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Pinocchio, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Peter Pan and Lady and the Tramp. You know, presuming you're just talking about animated features.

I'm just going by exactly what was said on the special features of the 101 Dalmatian DVD.. they literally said exactly that.

Actually for me it has nothing to do with "princess movies", my favorite happens to be Emperor's New Groove. It had to do with the look and the story line..i didn't get the whole crystal thing... and the look. It just didn't do anything for me. So please don't catgorize my "way of thinking" to princesses without asking why I didn't like a particular movie.

I do wish WDW could have the Pinocchio, Alice, Mr Toad, and Snow White rides from DL Fantasyland. Each of those movies is underrepresented in WDW to some extent. Each of the rides is excellent

Mr. Toad and Alice, yes (especially the former given that the WDW version was superior to the original DL one). But honestly, I don't miss SWSA being gone (7DMT will be a better representative for that film) and Pinocchio is fine but nothing special.

Personally, if they were going to add dark rides to WDW's Fantasyland, I'd rather see them do something for Sleeping Beauty (horribly under-represented in the parks), Tangled or an actual BatB ride. Or even Robin Hood or Sword in the Stone if they want something "for boys".

The Jungle Book....A dark ride based on this film needs to get built, and it needs to happen yesterday. Not every movie is good material for a dark ride, but in my opinion, The Jungle Book is perfect for one. The story is relatively simple (but still engaging), every character is memorable, and the songs are so catchy. If Disney could make a life-size, fully animatronic recreation of Colonel Hathi's elephant brigade, I don't think I would ever want to get off the ride.

It's absolutely a total shame that The Jungle Book doesn't have a ride in WDW. It's a perfect fit for DAK -- personally I'd like to see a Splash Mountain level ride (not necessarily the big drop, but that level of AAs and ride time) as the corner stone in an Animal centric cartoon "Critter Country" in DAK. There is so much to work with for an animal cartoon area and it would help fill out that park with what is sorely missed by having family friendly rides.

And it'd be a better use of Camp Minnie Mickey then Avatar.

No reason there can't be Avatar and a Critter Country. Heaven knows that DAK needs more stuff to do.

The CMM plot is very big once you add in all the undeveloped land (used for parking right now). Plus you have the land in between CMM and the future site of the FOLTK -- the one "backstage" bridge on the western part of Discovery Island is apparently going to become guest accessible. If they do that, you could easily have the western park of the park (all currently backstage) be used for a "Critter Country" area.

Animal Kingdom and a Jungle book dark ride or area seems almost too perfect a fit... Especially if you could make a play area based off of King Louies kingdom.

I also wondered for Animal Kingdom maybe a coaster based off of "the curse of Muldoon" (Brave) that could take you through the old kingdoms ruins/confront the bear....

The bear was named Mor'du, translated as "the great blackness" or something.
