Disney Merchandise before trip

Ok so this is a really random question-- Do you guys buy Disney clothes to wear on your trip beforehand? Please tell me I'm not the only one who wants to go decked out in Disney garb... If so, do you have any great bargain sites to recommend?

The Disney store online is having a pretty good sale and free shipping. So I started shopping and I'm really tempted to buy myself and DH at least a sweatshirt to wear when we're down there in December. But there are SO many things I want to get! (Part of me is hoping that in buying ahead of time, I will be less likely to want to buy everything in every single gift shop we pass- but I think that's more for DH's peace of mind because I know the truth is I'll still want to buy stuff... lol)

Any great websites to check out??
Thanks! =)

I always buy ahead of time - part of the fun of planning to go! The Outlet at Disneystore.com has some really cheap t-shirts now. I usually search by price and stock up. There's actually a Disney outlet store not far from my house - thinking of taking a solo trip when the kids start school on Tuesday!

Any chance you mean the Woodbury Commons store? 30 minutes from my doorstep!

A New Yorker helping me with Red Sox merchandise? As confusing as this situation is, "thank you" friend!

I found the All-Star merch on disneystore.com the other day, offered hubby the choice between an "american league" tshirt, a "yankees' tshirt, and a mickey-goofy-donald "allstar game" tshirt, and he picked the latter. So we're not all "evil empire"!!

I usually wear my WDWMAGIC t-shirts most of the week. So far, no one from this site has seen me. Maybe in November I will meet someone from here.....

I'll be there Nov. 11-15, sporting my wdwmagic button; should I look for your wdwmagic tshirt?

I actually buy items before I leave and while I'm there. The items before I leave are usually goodie bag stuff for DD like DVD's, dsi games for the trip down, snacks, notebooks, disposable cameras, pins, etc etc.

The one thing I MUST buy while actually at WDW is one of their Tshirts. The hanes they sell in the gift shops last forever and are of great quality. I don't mind paying $25 for a tshirt that fits those needs and I love them!

I currently have at least 25 Hawaiian style Disney shirts and two or three polos, which I've accumulated over the last few years from WDW, Disneystore.com and at outlet stores.

"An Adventurer's life is best!"

That is certainly something I have yet to get. I have several non Disney ones.

I too buy Disney merch prior to taking my trip. I buy pins on Ebay and usually check out the Disney Outlet online for good deals on t-shirts.

Don't feel bad because you are definitely not alone.

Do you buy the pin lot design for trading? I've been looking at a 100 lot pin set for 76 bucks. I'm hoping to get some hidden mickeys and some LE that I will keep for myself and trade the others at the park.

At less than a buck a piece a sure is a better deal. If all I'm going to do is trade the ones I don't want. Anyone else do this besides me on the hopes to get tons of pins to trade?

I bought some pins out of those 100 count lots about a year ago....I picked 15 at $1.10/apiece. Pretty good deal I thought..and it was BUT they are much smaller in my opinion then the regular pins you buy at the parks or the Disney Store and not as highly traded when doing pin trading. Pin traders from what I have experienced are looking for the tough ones...or the ones that stand out. However, buying 100 pins and plastering yourself with them will definitely get their attention!! :ROFLOL:

I usually only trade with the CMs right now. Haven't really traded any with fellow pin collectors. Do the CMs really tell you no if you want to trade a cheap one?

I learned last year my first year there that I couldn't trade with green vest ones since they were designed only for kids (completely understood of course) but I thought the one with blue vest pretty much had to trade.

Also learned last year that the hidden pins some CM have are not so special anymore. Can't remember what book I read but it was saying if you see a CM with a pin backwards and basically hidden from the rest you really want to trade for that one since those are more special pins.

I trade for those 3 times and out of those 3 I got a cheap pin (one of those pins you get in a starter set), a 09' pin with Cinderella, and just an ok pin.

Has that be done away with on the backwards (hidden) pins to make them a more special pin?

I have no clue regarding the "backwards" pins - I'm sorry! I can tell you the trading I did was with DD and CM's so we did deal with pretty much everyone and no one really said no BUT I only put a couple of those smaller ebay pins on her lanyard and they steered clear...sorry I can't help more. Plus after the first year of pin trading she lost interest so now I have all these really cool pins that I guess I'll save for a rainy day! LOL

Brilliant...and Canadian
In the Parks
No
OK.... I think I might have a problem. :lookaroun

When packing for our current 18-day trip, I decided to maximise my light-coloured Disney golf shirts (polos) and had enough for the entire trip and quite a few left over... And I own more darker coloured ones!

Maybe I should cut back on buying them as often?

Nah!

I only wear Red Sox attire when strolling through the Parks.

You and my hubby , along with his red sox hat....Every now and then he switches it up with the Patriots!! I am always amazed at how many fans are out there and how frequently conversations start up!
The year the Sox won the world series you would have thought the hubby had something to do with it, he got so many high fives that year, it was quite comical though!

I've never bought Disney clothes online, but if the prices are good, go for it. We've been visiting the parks for many years and have a large plastic bin we keep all our Disney tees, sweatshirts and jackets in. We've gotten quite a collection over the years. I've bought all our gear in either Downtown Disney at World of Disney or Mouse Gear.

I know I was just at Walmart and in the girls section they had a great selection of Disney shirts, Chip and Dale, dumbo, Jiminy cricket, thumper...And quite a few more...I mean for $7.00? You can'tgo wrong..I usually will pick up a few for the girls and I (the girls XL is I believe the same as a woman's Small would be)....Yeah since we don't have our Disneystore at our mall anymore..

I am getting all ready for our 10/1 departure. I have a curvy frame and the WDW tee's aren't that cute on me. But I found a super cute Mickey tank at WM for like 3 bucks. H&M has some cute tee's I am going to check out this week and I have two of my own tees that fit me well and I am thinking of adding an embroidery design too. So any of you other Ladies have a problem with WDW tees and a good fit? For me if they fit the top part the rest it baggie and unflattering. Any suggestions out there?
As for my kids I made my daughters little red and white Minnie dot pillow case dresses and I just found two halter dresses at Gymboree for like 7 bucks! (they are red and white polka dot too) For my boys I found some Mickey head iron on's to make them some tee shirts. My friend has an embroidery business and she is adding their names in the Disney Font and she has the Darth Mickey head for two more tee shirts. I prefer the custom Disney pieces but to NOT prefer their prices! Ebay has some great finds but so does Esty...great custom/more fashionable pieces may with "found" old Disney merch re-purposed.
