According to Demings he has spoken to the parks and they plan to make changes.

for increased capacity...one would think?

also...it could depend on where they are “for the 50th”??
Dropping masks may provide more booking incentive if they need it. That could be a consideration

that’s an awfully convenient stance?

the temp checks don’t really make sense...but the masks do
Temp checks keep sick people out, not all sick people obviously. Less spread of any disease if obvious sick people not exposed to the general public.. That is common sense. I should have clarified that I meant eventually getting rid of masks, but keep temp checks forever.

they determined there was asymptomatic transmission about a year ago

I do think the masks will go ASAP...so will the temp checks

I think the airline industry has a vaccine passport in the works?
This would really be best case scenario. The airline industry could literally change the entire course of Covid in America if they instate vaccine passports. It would break the plateau, and so many people would finally suck it up and get vaccinated. If the airlines could unite in this, they would be right up there with Health Care Workers and Essential Workers as the true heroes of the Pandemic.

Masks aren't going anywhere in the parks for a while, folks.
Yes and no. It's a gradual process which has already begun. As everyone knows, masks have not been required for the past 3 weeks while taking a photo. The next step very well could be allowing no masks while eating/drinking and walking. After that, masks not required while outside. Then finally, masks not required anywhere.

As far as when the next step could be, I say 3 weeks could be a great time as the kids are getting out of school. This from the article:

The Orange County representatives also stated that they expect to see 50% vaccinated within 3 weeks, which will lead to the mask mandate being lifted for people outdoors.

With today's Orange County announcement it is clear that the region is rapidly moving towards a far more normal standard of daily life. The timing is of great value to Disney World as the region approaches the traditional busy summer season.

I can easily see people being allowed to stroll around WDW sipping a bottled water this summer.

I agree. They may not completely eliminate masks, but there will probably be a relaxation of the rules regarding them.

Awesome. Then I know not to go to a park until the pandemic is over, because the positivity rate in Orange County means nothing when people are flying in from everywhere with every variant (known and unknown) and standing 3 feet from me in line.
I have no plans to go to any theme park any time soon. I'm considering (but nothing definite) perhaps traveling by air in Spring 2022. But I will spend a week at a FL beach next month.

This will be interesting to see unfold. We know Disney has not opened so many food locations because of not having the amount of attendence. If you increase attendance, that will start to make the waits for attractions, so not fun.

Maybe with the 3' rule, I can get Casey's again!!! Also, maybe the mobile ordering will calm down and I can just get in a line and order.

but this is the problem. If you let the public do what they will - in some nonsense individual “liberty” debate that wasn’t theorized for viral outbreaks - you fail.

so they close the park. And then give second chances that are doomed.

not sure what other tact is more effective?
To be honest, it doesn't matter where they are, spread will happen. I've never been a fan of closing people indoors which is even worse for spread.

It's not their "fault" they are kids being kids. That is a good thing!
They were honestly old enough to understand and the parents felt horrible. The spread that happened after was bad enough for some. I am so wanting my kid to be a kid, but he also is old enough to know that certain things are not smart. It's not just that the kids got sick, those who got sick because of this wasn't the best. Fortunately outcomes seem okay but for a while it didn't seem it was.
NHL, MLB and the NFL all had major outbreaks. It stands to reason high schools with zero testing and lax masks wouldn't be any different.
Thank you, I knew I was going to miss a ton out there. I had seen it enough in the news to know it happened more than once.

they only keep sick people out who are actively sick and fevered at the time of check. Ask me how covid hit my aunt's LTC facility a year ago. Though I find them silly at least they aren't really invasive or time consuming.

I'm really okay with this if this leads to anything.

I thought you lived on a Florida beach? 🤔
One aspect of FL, the further south one goes from Melbourne , the more blue the water ( ie Ft Lauderdale , Miami Beach , Keys ) . Daytona and especially New Smyrna is shark territory and crazy rip currents that can cost one their life.
