Disney needs to drop the mask requirement once and for all - The Super Bowl proved that masks are useless and people are simply done. California has an indoor mask mandate yet nearly all at the SB went maskless. Enough is enough. FYI, for you pro-maskers, no one is demanding you take yours off.
The funny thing is, I bet this was brought up with Disney executives.

Super bowl, Las vegas, casinos, etc.. I am sure this is all being mentioned in their meetings they hare having regarding lifting the masks.

No it wasn't and I don't believe anybody ever used that quote. I think it is an invention of your imagination. Maybe figment is invoved? If it was it would have been a fact. This point about surgeons wearing masks to justify public masking for COVID prevention is used by people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Again, the patient undergoing surgery does not breath the same air as the OR staff in the overwhelming majority of surgical cases.

I agree with your point but I think SoFi Stadium is technically outdoors. The roof is more of a canopy and there are huge openings for airflow. I don't believe there is any climate control system at all.
It's an enclosed space and in included in the LA County mask mandate.

I've got a nice chunk of change in Southwest credits I am about to use to take my first covid restriction free vacation the end of April, the first one sine 2019.

US Orlando has done away with masks, for the vaccinated, which we all are. I am about ready to use my credits, and head there instead of WDW. They're rapidly approaching being the last place in the US that requires them indoors. no idea why they won't drop them or what's motivating them to hold on to them.

It's about to cost them some $. People want to get out, have a great spring/summer trip w/o having to deal with covid restrictions. If Disney holds on more people will look elsewhere.

Disney is currently very busy, so mask requirements are not significantly impacting attendance. And as we know, the last quarter Disney hit a record revenue at the parks.

With this in mind, Disney can afford to take its time and not be in a hurry to make a change and possibly have to reverse it like they did last time. A cautious approach is a wise move in Disney's position.

Washington, DC -- Washington, DC! -- has announced that they are lifting mask and vaccine mandates.

Disney is very quickly becoming the very noticeable outlier on this issue. While they have wanted to look cautious, I don't think they want to look like they are the ones arbitrarily forcing an unpopular policy that no one else has.

I still predict the announcement comes this Friday.

Any time this week would be wise if they want to avoid headlines. So much nonsense occurring internationally that is sucking the oxygen out of the room. Disney dropping masks would be quickly overshadowed by far more serious events.

Like the Super Bowl MVPs snubbing us! I guess we know who ISN’T the Magic!

Well, yes and no. The proof of vaccine mandate ends tomorrow. The partial mask mandate ends on February 28th. Masks will still be required at the following:

Masks will continue to be required in the following places:
  • any private business that chooses to require masks
  • schools
  • child care facilities
  • libraries
  • public transit, taxis and ride share vehicles
  • D.C. government facilities that have direct interaction between employees and the public, such as DMV service centers
Any private business that wants to require use of masks by its employees or customers still will be able to do so.

So not a complete rollback - but getting there. And yes, I do live in this area.

They hit good revenue numbers by jacking up prices and decreasing portions....The mask policy is just a reflection of the politics of their leaders. The CDC even admitted that cloth masks are pretty useless and Disney has people crammed into buses, queue lines, and more....Tell me how that "keeps you safe" ;)

True, but come spring/summer when other maskless options are available, it could hurt them. Esp when they're the only place left that requires them.

If you think that the masks were only meant to protect over weight and old people.. you are not right of mind. It has been children for me. Which the uptick in cases and lack of vaccine for under 5. Once everyone has the chance to be vaccinated. Than I will be more willing to go maskless.
The policies were put in place to reduce the rate of spread, to keep the healthcare systems from being overwhelmed.

I honestly don't care if you stay in your mask forever but there will never be 100% vaccine compliance . If Disney doesn't drop soon I think there will just be a huge number of people who don't comply and I don't think anything will be done about it.

Up until Universal reinstated their mask policy late last year, there was a period of time where Disney required masks and their nearest and biggest competition didn't. The parks at WDW were still crowded.

They didn't "have to reverse" last time so I disagree that they should take their time. There is no way to know if it would be extremely busy vs. very busy at WDW if they didn't have the mask requirement so you can't really say that it isn't significantly impacting attendance.

I am taking a quick trip later to WDW because I already paid for my AP that expires in June. If they don't remove the mask requirement by the time I am up for renewal there is zero chance I will renew. So, while I "count" for attendance not being impacted right now, if my pass had expired last month then I wouldn't be part of the attendance this week due to the mask policy.

It could be a determining factor but I doubt it’ll keep many away, I hate masks but we love Disney so having to wear a mask indoors didn’t stop us from going to WDW instead of maskless Universal last year.

I think Disney wants masks gone as much as we do, their PC team just needs to be able to justify it, my guess is by March they’re gone.

I’ve always found it odd that Disney is held to such a different standard than the other parks, Universal, Sea World, Busch Gardens, etc can announce something like ending masks in a heartbeat and don’t get any negative pushback, Disney will run a statement like that through an executive committee, the legal department, and the marketing department before making a policy change and people still act like the worlds ending.

A record revenue in the last quarter doesn't happen if attendance is struggling. Anyone who has been in the parsk over the last few months knows that attendance is big right now.
