Interesting questionWhat is the lag time from dropping the mask mandate to restoring traditional M&Gs and character meals?
30 days? 90 days?
Come Watson, the games afootThings are in motion.
After lifting the mask mandates, the classic M&Gs are in the last category of pandemic considerations. The classic M&Gs sits in tandem with Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Hoop-Dee-Doo and Barber Shop off the top of my head.Interesting question
This makes me so excited and nervous at the same time. We've put off our first trip with our twins twice because of this. Would be AMAZING if it were dropped any time soon! Please let us know if you have any more info!Things are in motion.
Finally the madness is ending!!Things are in motion.

Off on a quest or reading tea leaves or something to facilitate his next prophecy. The method he uses for inspiration is a closely guarded secret.Where's HairyChest when you need him.
Not holding my breath. They'll announce for after spring break
His next prophecy will be that Disney will raise prices at some time in the future. Very bold stuff.Off on a quest or reading tea leaves or something to facilitate his next prophecy. The method he uses for inspiration is a closely guarded secret.
Could tomorrow be a maskless day or will I wish my visit was a few days later?Today could be an interesting day…
If they do it I think it will be immediately. They won't say tonight no masks starting March 1.Not holding my breath. They'll announce for after spring break
Though reality is we are at Polynesian with 2 days at least at Epcot for F&GF. We'll drive to DHS and AK. Ferry to MK. Leaves us walking to TTC and monorailing it to Epcot.... gosh I wish they would let us remove for that. Carrying a mask all day just for that when you carry just a phone is annoying.

I noticed a tremendous uptick in voluntary mask wearing (it's been mostly voluntary around me) when omicron hit, and rates went up.I do not want to run afoul of @wdwmagic and his request that we not debate masks in general, so I'll try to limit my comments to those that pertain to Disney's situation.
But these last several posts are the reason why you can't compare Disney's decision-making calculus last year to the current situation. Last year, there was widespread public support for Covid mitigation measures, including masking. Florida was by no means the only state without a mask mandate, but there were certainly a good number of states that had them. Most entertainment venues were enforcing masks, proof of vaccination, or both, even if Universal wasn't.
Today, the public winds have shifted. Despite a vocal minority online (which is not representative of real life), you can just look around you and see that the public at large does not want masking anymore and, in many cases, isn't even willing to comply if there is a rule in place. Virtually *everyone* is dropping mask requirements at this point. And that's what the public wants. In very short order, Disney is going to be left as the only place that requires masks.
Disney may be very cautious, but they do not want to be enforcing something that no one else has and the vast majority of the public does not want. And, whether you agree it's the right direction or not, that's where we are right now. I would be surprised if the mask mandate at Disney lasts beyond this week. I would be absolutely shocked if it lasts beyond this month. Disney is going to drop it. The only question left is when.

More of a running joke for me. I go when cases are quite low on accident and masks indoors. I will say I am utterly grateful they dropped outdoor masks last year for our trip. As one who wears when asked even outdoors for me was too much.If they do it I think it will be immediately. They won't say tonight no masks starting March 1.

Same - we saw the same uptick and seeing a higher drop off now. And I absolutely expect that in our schools kids to continue to wear masks the 2 weeks between the school system dropping and spring break. Why? My area is known for a lot of break travel and parents don't want to mess that up if going to a place like Europe or Hawaii.I noticed a tremendous uptick in voluntary mask wearing (it's been mostly voluntary around me) when omicron hit, and rates went up.
Usage has dropped off however, right along with the drop in hospitalization, deaths, and the over all less seriousness of omicron.
