CO2 is 0.04% of the atmosphere. Tiny increases may effect the climate but they won't effect air quality or breathing as long as the O2 concentration stays where it is.

I don't know why it would be so difficult to set up a mask with sensors and measure everything while a kid (or adult) breathes.
I talked about my concern up thread - basically that other studies find effects between even very small changes in air pollution and things like concentration, mood, and academic performance. So it seems to be that upping CO2 levels in the dead spaces of a mask even a little would certainly mimic this.

I agree that of course you’re not going to put on a mask and have some kind of health issue from CO2 inhalation. If that were the case people would have been passing out right and left since 2020. It’s more that I’m that mom with a giant air filter and plants in my son’s room because I want to maximize the air quality (random tip - areca palms are NASAa #1 rated plant in this arena). I drag myself outside far more often than is enjoyable for me so he can soak up the phytoncides and breath in the microbiome-enhancing soil spores or whatever. Admittedly I’m a bit neurotic on such topics, perhaps. So I’m of course not enthused about something that could potentially be the equivalent of sitting him beside a major highway all day, even though of course one is not going to have some kind of massive health issue from that.

Air pollution is not CO2 only, those findings are because of the heavy Metals and other stuff. The only thing coming out of your mouth is CO2 and what ever went in in the first place, in fact a lot of those heavier pollutants will be filtered out by said mask from the air.

Even very small increases in CO2 are bad news in some areas of cognitive function

That said, it’s a fair point that masks may filter out other pollutants. I’d just need more information before concluding which I think is the better option for young children.

More on topic, I predict masks will no longer be mandatory anywhere at WDW by 4/1/22.

I realize that’s April Fools Day but this isn’t a joke.
They may remain on transportation depending on when the federal mandate is lifted. But I hope they’re not mandated in the parks and resorts after spring.

Easter is in late April this year, I predict that masks will either be dropped by early March or won’t be dropped until May.
If not , a supply of masks would be helpful since one would be sweating through some of them through 80 degree plus temps in April in Orlando and much hotter temps May and the summer months.

The federal mandate isn't going to be lifted for the foreseeable future. I still maintain it won't be until at least January 2025.

They won't even consider lifting it until every state reaches moderate or low spread on the CDC scale and stays there for a few months. Given the history of this virus, there is very little chance that all 50 states are at that level of community spread simultaneously for any period of time.

I personally feel that, like the OSHA vaccine mandate, the DOT and FAA lack the statutory authority for the mandate but none of the parties with the financial means has any particular desire to challenge it on those grounds. For an individual to have standing I think they would have to first refuse to wear a mask and then be fined or arrested and then challenge it. An airline or bus line would probably have standing to do it preemptively but there is no financial motivation for them to do it.

It's not like a passenger can just choose another airline so they don't have to wear a mask so they aren't losing revenue due to the mandate. Nobody is going to be able to fly private just to avoid masking. Even for somebody who is upper middle or lower upper class financially, it makes no sense to burn through your savings and spend $100k for a family of 4 to fly round trip, transcontinental on a private jet when the same family can fly first class for under $10k if they wanted to. At least for me (who is probably close to as anti-mask as you can get), it wouldn't remotely be worth $90k to not wear a mask for 10 hours of flying even if I could afford it.

The people who can actually afford to fly private were doing so before COVID-19 existed.

WDW might remove their requirement if Florida as a whole, Orange and Osceola counties and the northeast states (NY, NJ, PA, CT, MD and VA at minimum) get to that level and stay there for a month.

I think Universal will likely remove their requirement as soon as Orange County drops back to moderate which will probably happen by March.

Putting on a mask for me anymore is about as normal as putting on my socks. I've gotten used to it and I really don't care when the mask rule is lifted.
I change my mask frequently and socks daily. Not changing socks daily is unhygienic and asking for trouble for a fungal infection.

You'll eventually get used to it after this mask policy carries on for a few more years.
Definitely for flying. One United flight I was on, the captain even came on the intercom mid flight advising if non compliance wearing a mask properly with the exception of drinking/eating will be subject to arrest upon exiting the aircraft by local authorities. I remember seeing the crazy Karen video when a maskless male was ranting and raving escorted by Disney security to leave the park when he refused to wear a mask at DAK about a year ago.

I'll never accept covering my face as normal.
It's not normal, and never will be.
It is the new normal in some businesses who choose to lay out policy and enforce it. If one tries to act out like a foolish Karen ( ie. on an aircraft ) get ready to pose for one's mugshot and see the inside of a jail cell.

I am glad to hear that. I had HUGE reaction to first and second to Pfizer and going for my booster of Moderna tomorrow, I was thinking about canceling because I dont want to lose 3 days more work right now like I did the last two times. Reading your post I am a bit more ready to go.

Worse issue with a vaccine for me I was for Shingles, 3 days later I had an SVT heart event, I thought I was going to die. All my Dr's saying this or that so I google my self and find a study that states 6% of men get an SVT event 3 days after the Shingrex vaccine, EXACTLY what happend to me. I showed all my Dr and none of them were aware, now they are. I don't regret getting the Shingrex vaccine, that incident led to my Dr's discovering an abnormality in my heart that causes Afib about 9% of the time. This is why I have been feeling ill the last few years. My wife says you never feel well and I just shrugged it off from working 18 hour days. So now I need decide if I will go on and get an ablation for my heart

My AFIB caused my heart to go to 155 for 147 minutes yesterday while I sat there scared, still I am on the fence about the ablation. It scary when your heart beats like you are running 10 miles while sitting doing noting at all and can not ell the heart to slow. Anyone here have an ablation one for the heart?

Honest question: are you healthy enough to take these things?
