No, not from Brasil. I knew what it was though. It's still not the norm here.

Never seen one honestly but given travel, I don't think they are a current problem anyway

May have gotten that out of context as it looks like several posts have been heavily modified (I see this one was already changed from when I first read it - twice - enough to slightly change the tone - I updated mine after you posted to clarify my position regarding these groups with a * so I get it) but just wanted to clarify it was not a group of US teenagers here from school.

I imagine you're right that they are not a problem in the parks at the moment.

As a local, I've encountered these groups frequently in roughly the same timeframe though like I said, it has varied from year-to-year. I'm glad for you that you've never had to deal with them

Hope they stay forever. Lose the masks but keep temp checks. I hope that people continue to not go out when the are sick. I personally wear a mask inside public places, but never outside unless required. In the past year I have still traveled, socialized responsibly, etc. I have not been sick even a sniffle since early 2020. Then best thing we can do now and forever is if your sick stay home.

Who is going to a theme park with a high grade fever? Nobody. That's why when you talk to most of the temp checkers they'll tell you that, at most, a couple families have been denied entry.

Temperature checks are practically useless, not just for Covid but for any other illnesses. First, there are many people who get Covid and other illnesses who never run a fever. I never had a fever when I had Covid. Second, there are reasons besides a contagious disease that you can run a fever. And, third, most fevers are very easy to control with simple over-the-counter medicine like Tylenol or Motrin. So you're not really accomplishing anything by doing temperature checks at the front gate. Even Dr. Fauci has said they are unreliable and that government facilities haven't used them for quite some time.
valid points. I have an insanely strong immune system The rare times I do get sick, it has been direct exposure from a very sick coworker are customer. Wish sick people would stay home.

I don't see the photo change as a gradual process, more so a pain point with CM's that they decided wasn't worth the hassle. Universal never had the photo policy.
I would imagine that everything mask-related is a pain point for CM's (particularly in the heat). But I do see your point. Hopefully we see more vaccinations and continued loosening of restrictions going forward.

I’m going Saturday also. With my luck, they’ll lower the distance, enforce the masks and the temperature will be in the 90’s.
We will be hitting a heat wave while there - temps WILL be in the 90's at least for a few days. I am sure masks will still be the uniform of the day!

It depends how you define a "large group." In the context of WDW, something like the mass of people watching fireworks certainly would be but are people walking around a theme park really a "large group" in the same way?

Walking around Disney is the definition of a “large group”. Are you seriously asking this?

Yeah I realized as soon as I posted it made sense in my head but not to others lol

You hit on my point though, they aren't likely a problem but also, I usually don't even get caught in huge groups - not even on red shirt day at MK.

Having a friend from Brasil, she's talked about the winter tour groups and how common it is to have a bunch take off for their winter break which coincides with when I never do Disney lol. Pretty much every month except July and August for me.

I think it depends. I manage not to get too close to anyone just walking around. We don’t watch parades, and we do dessert parties for fireworks. I’m not fond of crowds and manage to do quite well at Disney. It’s not necessary to be right next to any one person for a significant amount of time.

But as a private company, they can require whatever they want whenever, correct? I think Disney will be following CDC guidelines (to cover their own tails) vs. local decisions.
If Disney's smart they'll continue to require masks. Just one case of Covid being traced back to them and they can be shut down. It's just not that big of a deal to remain masked.

I hope Disney continues the mask mandate. They should also require proof of vaccination by 16+ adults. There's nothing wrong with trying to keep guests and cast members safe. There are people visiting from such a diverse set of venues, better safe than sorry. One case of Covid traced back to Disney and they could be shut down again.
