The hotels are also very crowded that weekend, especially Friday night. Many people go home after the race, so there are more rooms available Sat and Sun night. We stayed at AKL, which was one of the major hotels for the event (Major sponsors were staying there). It was sooo crowded Fri, but rather empty when we returned from the parks on Sat evening. People were already being returned to the hotel after completing their race as we were leaving for the parks.

The medal is for Finalisher. It's what we train really hard to get. I don't get up at 6 am everyday and run 30-50 miles a week 'cause it's easy.I do not beleive they are for sale and Should NOT be. I really don't understand why someone who did not earn it would want one? I collect disney stuff but do not want a medal for running a race that I didn't run. When people ask why do you have a marathon medal to a race you didn't run what do you say? I am very confused.

<GASP> I agree. Distance running, and endurance sports in general, are very tough. We get injured all the time, and keep training right through it. Disney would loose all credibility with athletes if you could just go into the Emporium on Main Street and pick up a medal. I'm sure someone could pick one up at a Disneyana convention or something, but what's the point if you didn't run the race?
