I just learned this too! I was taking a Disney trivia quiz on Sporcle and I couldn't get this one. I kept putting "Atlantica" - I thought that's the only place ever really given for The Little Mermaid.

Not sure where the movie is based but the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale is from Denmark. The fable doesn't have a happy ending like the movie. I like the Disney version better.

Most accounts place Atlantis near the Mediterranean...though other accounts place it various other areas...however Iceland isn't one of them. Disney took a bit of liberty there!

Hrm, no. The Rescuer's are in Louisiana not Florida. It takes place in the Devil's Bayou which is LA, not FL.

Oh I know. It just stood out since NOTHING ever takes place in Florida and I was sure if a Disney movie did take place here, I would have remembered. So I did a quick search and was like, yup, thought so! and thought I'd post the correction.

It's still a cool idea, just that part isn't right.
