I don't know if this is the right forum for this but I was worried it wouldn't get much of a response if it wasn't in this one. But Disney just announced a new live action remake of Dumbo directed by Tim Burton. I'm not sure why these new live action remakes are being made. But wanted to see the reaction of this and gauge perhaps what the implications of this would be in the parks.

One Little Spark...
Tim Burton's directing? I'm curious as to how the Pink Elephants scene is gonna turn out now...

This was announced in July of 2014 and there is an active thread about it over on the Movies Animation board.

I love Dumbo the ride, not a big Dumbo movie fan. So I don't think I would enjoy a live action of Dumbo, but for those of you that like the movie Dumbo....enjoy.

I can honestly say this never occurred to me. I think it would have to have too many changes to the original film and then it becomes a different beast all together.....hmmmm.

Is Ray Liotta in this one too?

I bet if it is Tim Burton, than Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter will be in it..

The movie was announced and the writers, but the director wasn't at the time.
Yes I know. I can't tell if Tim Burton as director makes this more or less interesting for me. Maybe if he goes back to his early Tim Burton days, this could be really cool. Also, considering what is going on with elephants in circuses today, it could be oddly relevant. I don't recall Dumbo's mother being very well treated in the movie, and all these years later, Ringling Brothers is getting rid of their elephant acts:

As to why these live remakes...I suppose kids that saw the cartoons are now grown and instantly attractive to a remake. Plus, we now have the technology. :)

The problem is that at some point kids will go straight to watching these movies and won't watch the classic animated films anymore. Even if the live action is not necessarily aimed at young ones!
