Disney Power Surge Issues (3/28)

To me, this seems kind of absurd. The following rides at WDW were reported to be down at some point today due to technical problems:

Splash Mountain
Dumbo
Pirates
Space Mountain
Spaceship Earth
Toy Story Midway Mania
Dinosaur
Expedition Everest
Kali River Rapids

I get that things break down, but this is crazy.

For the record, nothing at Universal's parks were reported to be down today for any amount of time.

Reported by who? And for the record, Walt Disney World has four major theme parks, Universal Orlando has two.

If we're using online forums and websites as source, there are plenty more of those covering Disney than Universal. You might not hear about temporary closures out of Universal at all because there aren't the number of eyes and ears there in the online world.

There was a property wide power surge that has affected a lot of attractions in the last 3 hours.

I would like to know if this was taken into account as well? Also, how long were the rides "down" for?

I don't know how long they were down or for what reason. Just reporting what I read on Undercover Tourist.

Not sure if it was down due to technical issues or it being open last week was a fluke, but the Barnstormer has been down all day as well.

Go to any park, anywhere, and you'll find that attractions go down from time to time. It isn't necessarily a sign of "maintenance issues" though it can be.

I don't think anyone would deny that, but at the same time, to hear that many attractions going down in 1 day is pretty bad.

What is the link to their report? I'd like to see if there has been any updates.

It's an iphone app. It lists all the wait times for all attractions. Updates and refreshes constantly. Pretty cool. Also tells you how far you currently are from a specific attraction. Like right now, I'm 1,937,589 yards away from Space Mountain.

Barnstormer and Dumbo are both in "soft open" and may be brought down at any time for any reason... it may have nothing to do maintenance.

Haunted Mansion was down Monday night - we saw the queue being emptied. Then again Tuesday at about 11am for an hour, due to "technical difficulties".

Splash was down for a short period of time on Monday. They didn't evac, but guests were sitting in logs for a while.

Pirates was down Monday for a portion of the day. I don't remember what time or for how long.

These are being reported by me, because I was there.

NOTE: All effects inside Splash appeared to be in working order when we rode Tuesday.

Property-wide power glitch. Not maintenance.

Mansion was up in minutes, and maintenance was scrambling to get things up as fast as they could. Some attractions take a very long time to clear and reset.

Stuff happens, it's unfortunate. This was something new and crazy.

So you just assumed it was maintenance issues even though nothing said that?

Also Barnstormer technically isn't officially open yet, it can close at any time during soft openings.
