The World Showcase would be kind of broken if there's a DVC tower looming overhead, similar to if they built a tower right next to Harambe, Pandora, or really almost anywhere at Animal Kingdom.

Look at the number of complaints they got about the Harmonious barges. A large tower in that plot would likely be significantly more intrusive than the barges for at least certain parts of EPCOT.

Swolphin aren't remotely as intrusive as a tower in that spot would be. They're unfortunate, but they're off in the distance and generally aren't really visible from inside the World Showcase pavilions.

I also don't remember seeing the Riviera at all last time I was at EPCOT -- I imagine it's visible from some places, but again, nowhere near the same thing.

This location would be literally next door to the International Gateway. An 8-10 story building there would dominate the surroundings.

But as @peter11435 said, there are numerous other problems with that location too.

I know I've spied it from the monorail on the inner loop, and I imagine you can perhaps see it way in the distance from some elevated areas on the western side of the park, but seeing a few mansard roofs in the distance is infinitely less disruptive than even S&D since there are plenty of other internationally themed structures ringing much of the park.

The original WDW has its hotels right across from the park too. WDW in orlando is actually the deviation from the norm for parks as far as hotel location goes.

Seems every 2 years they build a DVC high rise so where do you think the next one will go when Lakeshore lodge is finished in 2027.

I can imagine a resort that leads right into the Villains Land of Magic Kingdom would be sold out daily.

I think that would be really bad at EPCOT; it would block views of Spaceship Earth. Plus EPCOT already has three hotels within easy walking distance.

It probably wouldn't be as big of a deal at current DHS since they've basically given up on the original Hollywood theme anyways, but the front entrance of DHS is very well designed with call backs to numerous LA landmarks from the Golden Age. A hotel there would kind of throw that all away.

Mr Toad was always very cute and a lot of fun... Way cuter and more fun than the Winnie The Pooh ride that replaced it. 20,000 Leagues has no equal... It was an amazing attraction... It was absolutely gorgeous from outside... I remember as a kid just standing along the side watching the subs go by... looking into the deep clear water... There was nothing like it... I still mourn the loss of that one...and the 2 and a half attractions that replaced it, to me do not equal what that was. I am glad the Disneyland version survives...in another form... I am sure we will be feeling a lot of this then the ROA disappears...

This is what I mean to each their own. On 20,000 Leagues, the loading and unloading was not efficient and incredibly time consuming. The actual ride was just plain cheesy --IN My Opinion. We all have our favorites, I also miss the Time Travelor--but I have always been a Robin Williams fan.

Disney have built some nice art deco hotels in Tokyo (the ambassador) and Hong Kong (Hollywood hotel). I’m surprised they haven’t built something similar by DHS, like Victorian its a style that suits Mickey and co

Interesting point. I'm surprised an Art Deco hotel hasn't been in the mix in the past - or has it? Maybe an insider would know.

The closest thing to that would be the "Epcot Resorts" (Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club, Swolphin) next to the Int'l Gateway.
