I don't care what anyone says, this is by far my favourite new entertainment offering of the 50th anniversary. Without a doubt I would go to see it were I in DAK and I'm sure we will be talking about this one for years!

I'm not even really being ironic here; this seems hilariously fun!
It’s definitely memorable, doesn’t take away from anything else, and fits in at DAK as it is a study in natural selection. Who survived today?

I tried to show my parents footage of the kites (and the kite fails) on Saturday night, and I was laughing so hard I was crying and couldn't breathe. They were so annoyed with me. The thing that really kills me is that this is clearly, obviously a failure (and simultaneously a gift that keeps on giving), and they are still going full bore with it. Like, there's good ol Disney determination, and then there's...refusal to give up the ghost.

I had the same reaction at Seaworld in the 90's. After experiencing Fantasmic!, we went to Seaworld's nighttime show billed as a 'laser show' and featuring The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, which was a short-lived future-medieval spin-off off Power Rangers.

Well, the laser show was just red, green and blue lasers making small geometric shapes -- that rotated! Tech from the 70s. Add to that a C-List franchise with D-List stock footage, I just started laughing and couldn't stop. My family was mad at me, had to leave the arena.

It was so bad. It was like an arena version of The Room.

I just love the idea that they're contemplating placing giant targets on the bleachers and smashing the characters into them. Adds an element of sport to the whole proceedings, as we the audience take bets amongst overselves and wait with bated breath to see whether they manage to hit the target with each of the characters.

I agree with this. Stupid is always better then bland in entertainment - this is AKs Fast and Furious: Supercharged. Plus it has a spontaneity the programmed, banal, IP-loaded nighttime “spectaculars” lack.

Lining up a half hour before the first show of the day.

Not surprising. It's a kids show that looks fun. Of course it will be at least somewhat popular, much to the chagrin of some people on this forum calling for firings over it.

At least it doesn't destroy the views around Animal Kingdom like a certain other show... Kite Tails is harmless (unless you take King Louie to the face...)

This has got to be the most low budget show thing they could have come up with for this theater. This to me just doesn’t scream Disney
Ironically, that’s why I like it. The most high budget show is Harmonious and look how a jumbled mess that turned out to be. Crazy kites dragged by jet skis to Disney tunes. Will the kite stick the landing when released? People were actually cheering that. Sometimes less is more.

I'm glad it's not just me! I really think this is the one I think I would have the most fun watching, particularly with other people. As you say, you never really know what's going to happen when you sit down to watch this one. There's also something about the surrealness of it all that I can appreciate!

If they need a show for Discovery River, I suggest they move the stargate from Harmonious to Animal Kingdom. During the day, they could have the Discovery River jet-ski stunt show and have the jet skis jump through the stargate. During the evening, they could have some sort of light show. Problem solved!!!
Put in another Stargate at AK. The jet skis jump from AK to Epcot and back. What? Not possible? Science fiction? Never mind.

I love AK, but it needs (educational, humane) animal shows, and one of the big reasons is spontaneity. When dealing with animals, every show is different. Rewatching becomes a lot more fun. I can watch the pet show at Uni over and over. Its a shame AK doesn’t use this element more.

We should start taking bets in the stands.
