I think the biggest mistake was trying to present it as anything more than it was - presenting it alongside Harmonious and Enchantment and positioning it as the spiritual successor to RoL is a stretch by any standard. If instead KiteTails was presented to the level of like a character show that pops up throughout the day, I think expectations would've been better managed.

I hope they don't cut the show; this would be a fine offering if AK ever wanted to do a kite festival.

Honestly. Local kiting groups in my hometown do better shows than this.

I went into this with the lowest expectations of all time, because the concept art looked terrible, and somehow the actual product was even worse.

In what way did they hyper it more than it was? They announced it as part of the "new stuff" for the 50th, but it always seemed to me like the descriptions weren't suggesting it was anything groundbreaking (beyond normal Disney descriptive fluff).

I got to thinking, if this show doesn't work out, they can use all the balloons and kites as a parade for AK. Just have CMs hold up the kites/balloons with sticks like they do now, and have a few dancers and characters along. The stuff looks good, just doesn't fit for a show.
