they just forgetting about HHN?
I'm not even a big fan of HHN, I think the lines aren't worth the insane waits & that the food sucks. But Universal puts in so much effort for that effort than Disney does for any of the WDW parks' events (the DisneyLand events seem pretty cool though). So I think it's fair for them to throw some shade. Especially because Jollywood costs more than HHN usually does.

Seeing a lot of takes that it needs to be an hour longer .... Would that change your view if it was 4 hours instead of 3?
If it was the same hours as MK's Christmas party I would feel a little better about it. We actually went to both this year and I believe they increased capacity at Mickey's very merry Christmas party this year. It was busier than the previous years that we went.

We also asked the teens in our group and they said they would have liked it better if they could of had a few free cookies.

It seems like such a small thing but if those Gertie cookies were just handed out (like they do with cookies at MVMCP) I think it would go a long way

We enjoyed the event and experienced just about everything we wanted to do.

Did both shows without any line issuess. Did Holidays in Hollywood first. Line opened early and they were sitting folks by time we got over there at 8:10. Probably the best new holiday offering in a few years. Criticism's are that Kermit's voice is off and the sound mix is off. Specifically, instruments are too loud compared to singers so it was difficult to hear singing at times.

After, we went straight to What is This for the 9:30 show. The Cirque comments hit and absolutely track. I thought the actors did a great job with props and that their roles were fun, but because they're silent they can't do anything to really encourage singing so the songs feel a bit flat and we felt weird singing loudly, so we more mouthed everything.

This was the Hyperion line at 9:21 less than 10 minutes from the second show, before they opened doors to let guests in:

Did both parties. Walked up to Brown Derby around 11:43 and they were about to cut off line, so I'd I think 11:45 is the latest they take people. We were immediately seated.

Decorations remained sparse. I thought the music mix was nice. Service was quick because at this time there were very few tables. Sliders were terrible (overcooked and dry), but we were in and out in 20 minutes, and that's pretty perfect to dip in, experience, and dip out.

Experienced the end of Tip Top Club. They play music until about 12:20.

The stage is low and that makes it feel more intimate.

In this "sandwich" with shows early and clubs late, we experienced a good bit in the middle, including: the kuka arm photo, MMRR, TSM, Commissary Lane snacks and music (two music setups and when one took a break the other was there to start playing), Gertie cookies (no line around 12:05).

It worked for us because we spent very little time in line for anything. My longest line was the one kuka arm photo and that was about 10-15 minutes. We did not do any character photos because they looked like time sinks, but it's great that there were many options. I get that it's imperfect to not have Fab 6 together but given the individual lines, one line with all would be an operational nightmare. Possible, but it's choosing +2 hour waits vs multiple 10-20 minute waits.

We were overall happy even with kids 8 and 5. The bones of a great event there to improve upon next season with some of the ideas already shared in this thread, namely a stuff like a dedicated fireworks show, offerings in TSL and GE, some included snacks and drinks. It wouldn't surprise me if they just didn't elect a budget to accommodate for these things. There's even a line in Holidays in Hollywood that Kermit day says something like "it's not in the budget!"

Given the price I'd love to see a 5th hour but demand pretty nonexistent by midnight.

I don’t think anyone is realistically asking for all six to be together in one line. The issue is just the lack of back to back coverage. If it was six separate lines but you knew it was always for whoever you were getting in line for, it would spread demand more and avoid frustration of missing someone. Or they could be paired up, so only three lines still. Whatever the solution, just needs to not be rotating characters.

The CMs had paddleboards with the meeting character's name, so another idea is to identify the cutoff group so everyone in front knows who they are meeting and then everyone after that group would be told they'd meet X, and then people entering at any time would know who they'll meet.

Best of luck to the attendant trying to figure out which groups will take a normal amount of pictures and which have to do four different TikTok videos and get eight picture frames signed. Having to make that call 20+ minutes in advance, the only guarantee is that they’ll either over or under estimate, and then what?

Would need to be conservative with estimates to not over estimate. Shoot for something like 5 minute wiggle room and and then have an attendant start at the front of the remaining queue to ask if any group wants to meet with X while he or she still has a more few minutes before needing to step away. Some folks truly don't care and it'd continue to cycle people through until needing to switch.

It's not ideal and Disney really should just spring for extra CMs and at minimum keep pairs.

I watched one review video from night 2 and they said the CMs would tell them how long until the switch but not guarantee who they would meet

When they did the Earth week character meets this year, for whatever reason on the last day they had a single queue for the last appearance of the characters and when people entered they were told they'll meet Jiminy Cricket or Tinkerbell and Fawn, with no choice over which they got.

Everyone in the line said "screw that" and did exactly what you describe. Someone found the first person waiting for the fairies, and she let all the people there for Jiminy jump in front of her.

I still don't really understand why the attendants couldn't have done what the guests ended up doing. It definitely worked better than the alternative.

A little late to the party, but I wanted to pop in and let everyone know that Disney is still giving refunds for the first Jollywood. I wrote a lengthy email a few days after attending, and it was resolved this past Friday. We didn’t even ask for a refund; we just asked that they “do the right thing.” A full refund for our three tickets was the leading offer.
