I meant more along the lines of

1. People who go to both feeling like they get their Nightmare Before Christmas fill from this so don't consider the line worth it.

2. Fans choose to go to this instead and so aren't at Very Merry and don't get in the line.
Possible but then maybe someone will realize that MVMCP is beyond stale and it will get a refresh

Ehhh. I think if you had also gone to Universal, or SeaWorld, or Busch gardens, you would have realized Disney truly is Just phoning it in. It comes to the holidays they truly do just the basics. Nothing more. Go to one of its competitors and you'll see a far more comprehensive list of holiday season entertainment offerings and bonus almost always included with the regular park admission. IMO SeaWorld is currently the holiday entertainment offerings champion of the Central Florida theme parks. Yes, Sea World.

Those cookies were bad but honestly my hot cocoa was too hot. Burnt my tongue.

No included snacks (nothing is free at Disney) but there will be limited capacity bars.

If it's good enough for six flags....

Agree... This feels needless.

Christmas monorails = monorail red with white stripes added on its red bar.

It's two sodas (pre-tax and assumes no additional price hikes between now and the holidays)
I'm going to be honest Universal phones it in at IOA too. I spent a whole day there in October before I went to HHN; it was super fun as always because it's IOA but you wouldn't be able to tell it was October at that place. I know they do the Death Eaters at night but that's only for a couple hours & I was already at Studios for HHN by that point.

They could definitely do more Halloween theming throughout the rest of that park if they wanted to.

My idea for a WDW after hours party that I would pay for; A throwback night at Magic Kingdom with some combo of the following:

- Show at Diamond Horseshoe
- Steel drummers in Adventureland
- Sword in the Stone Ceremony
- Michael Iceberg type show on the Tomorrowland stage
- Disney World is Your World or Everyday's a Holiday on the castle stage
- Fantasy in the Sky 25th Anniversary version
- Magic Journeys in the PhilharMagic theater
- 1971 Hall of Presidents
- Uncut Country Bears
- Disneyland's version of Carousel of Progress (would run outside of party hours, but party would be incentive for refurb)
- Uncut Tiki Room with Magic Fountain (similar to above, but longer show during party hours)
- Old music loops wherever possible, original PeopleMover loop etc

Interesting. I was referring to the Christmas offerings not Halloween. Still your observation is interesting as I never thought about halloween at islands of adventure and what that would be like. Sounds pretty minimalistic. Then again aside from Magic Kingdom it's pretty minimalistic at the other three parks at Disney as well. If completely non-existent.

I am the opposite - it is firmly a Christmas movie - the plot is all about and around Christmas. It is a Halloween themed Christmas movie, but at the heart it is a Christmas movie (I know many don't see it as I do though)
To each his own, I play that soundtrack in Oct and watch it in Oct.

I haven't been to Universal during Christmas time so I can't really comment on that. But they were already putting up Christmas stuff in IOA in late October, so it's probably pretty good. 😂

It's decent. IOA has ginchmas and Studios has Macy's Christmas Parade offered throughout the season. The decor is standard.

Sea World has
Very heavily decorated park, millions of lights at night and the decor does not follow the Disney ( giant tree, garland, wreath and a few smaller trees) standard.

Mostly* included with daily park admission.

Major shows:
O Wonderous Night
Winter Wonderland on Ice
Elmo's Christmas Wish
Sesame Street Christmas parade
Holiday reflections Fireworks

Additionally:
Rudolph's Christmas town.
Santa Claus meet and greet
Snow flurries
Holiday themed Streetmosphere acts
Sea of Trees

*Extra cost offerings:
Sesame Street holiday character breakfast
Dinner with Santa Claus.
Their own version of Epcot's Holiday kitchens all around the central lagoon.

All in one park.

I only stress it because there are so many people who really scratch their head at SeaWorld's Christmas. They can't wrap their head around that this is the park that actually does the most for Christmas in Central Florida by a country mile. There's just no way they can accept that. And then they go. And the reaction is always the same. Wow, That is a lot of Christmas.

I will say Disney has improved from a few years ago. The holiday menagerie at animal Kingdom Park is definitely a nice addition. The Magic kingdoms Main Street USA is always wonderful. I just wish there was more decor going beyond Main Street USA. Disney's Hollywood Studios has really up their game and I really do feel that is the best decorated park at Walt Disney World.

It is Epcot's holiday offering that I take the most issue with. Epcot feels so barren for the holidays. Even with the holiday kitchens the end result still feels like they decorated the front of the park, they put a Christmas tree at the World Showplace transition, and then a few booths around the lagoon. It feels barren and dark. A decor does not have the warmth and joy of the holiday season. It could be because the park is so big it's so hard to put enough decorations in it to make it feel good, but I'm not here to make excuses for them. Whatever they're doing it's not working. Epcot feels like a holiday void.

Having said all that, I look forward to the holiday event that the studio is offering. It's only for 10 nights so I don't subscribe to the theory that this is putting everything they used to give away for free behind a pay wall. I get it jingle bell jingle bam used to be free but that was cut long before this event was introduced.

I'll reserve judgment till I see what they're actually offering and all the other nights the event is not happening.

It is too much money. But same could be said for Mickey's very Merry. And I likely will skip it this year in favor of figuring out exactly what it is I'm paying for. But the concept I am still in support of.

While I agree with some of your points, offering Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! to “regular” day guests would not help sell this event. I can see them running it December 22nd - December 26th. But not before

Personally this event is more inciting to me as I’ve already done MNSSHP & MVMCP more than once, and they have minimal to zero new offerings.

What are the chances that we see a star wars after hours similar to DLR's next year @ DHS? They already got a star wars show on file, all they gotta do is design the cupcakes and some graphics.

Slim to none

They just don't seem to be doing the themed after hours at WDW like they do at DLR or even did in the past at WDW (Villains event, etc)

Just don't think they feel they need to add any extras when the afterhours with nothing (other than some snacks) sell rather well

I think if Jollywood Nights is successful, I do believe there will be more events like this.

And like @Squishy said, they have Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular in the cupboard (nighttime show behind a paywall), add Star Wars entertainment (Return of the First Order March?) or even Muppets themed Star Wars entertainment is something that people will pay for.

It's the perfect thing to run during March-May (up to 5/4) and take advantage of high crowds around Easter.

I guess if they think there is enough demand to run at least 10 nights during a 2-month stretch or something I could see it

I just don't see the DLR model where they ramp up all this extra stuff just for 1 night (be it star wars, throwback, etc)

I mean, they could just bring back something like Star Wars Weekends but charge for it
