I am so tired of having to explain my love for the parks. Telling someone you love going to disney is like telling them you still wear diapers, some people just dont get it. I am a 25 year old man, and I will drop everything I am doing to go visit the world, and this brings constant ridicule from my peers as well as my own family.

I try to explain to them that its more of a nostalgic thing, being that I have been going since before I was even a year old, but some people find that even funnier.

How do you all deal with the disney haters?

Then don't. For those that understand no explanation is needed. For those that don't no explanation will ever do.

We have found most people that mock you would never go themselves or spend time and money to discover the true hidden magic. We just had the 2011 US figure skating championships here in town and most people here wouldn't go to find out what it was all about. However they were the first to mock me for going. We have found its all what your into. If it makes you happy go and cherish every moment. Besides when you go back everyone here is Jealous.

Ugghh..

I hear the same crap all the time, mostly from co-workers and friends who ALWAYS ask where you're going on vacation. My family gets it.

"Oh, there AGAIN?"
"What do you do there?"
"Isn't that for kids?"
"How can you spend 8 days there?"
"Don't you run out of things to do?"
"What's so great about DisneyWorld?"
"Is that the one in California?"
"I was there in about 10 years ago, I don't need to go back."

You learn to just ignore them and lump them in with the 90% are idiots philosophy. I honestly think people who love Disney are wired differently. We can let go and be kids all over again. It doesn't matter how many times we ride the Haunted Mansion, whiz around on Space Mountain, or relax on Spaceship Earth. The detail is where it's all worth it. It's not just about how fast you go or how many cheap thrills a ride can offer; its' about the experience, the nostalgia, and the Disney magic.

The smell I get from Spaceship Earth's fire scene at the library is worth the price of admission. Seeing that hidden Mickey on ToT or riding with the ghost in my Doombuggy makes my day, makes my year. It never gets old. I was just there in January and would go back today.

I've been 30+ times and always weigh the cost of going on another trip is NOT going to Disney World. With this philosophy, I almost never choose to go anywhere else. Luckily, I had a good childhood in terms of vacations and was able to visit most states in between trips to Orlando. Still, I always come back to Disney despite having been a lot of places.

Beaches? Seen one, you've seen them all. Does Jamaica really feel much different than Mexico? Not to me. But there is only one WDW.

There are people within my own family who wonder why I'd want to visit WDW and Disneyland more than once. Who were unimpressed with the parks themselves when THEY went. *shrug* I feel sorry for people who don't "get" the appeal of the Disney parks. Something inside such people has died, some spark of wonder, and it's too bad...for them. I sure don't let them spoil MY fun!

This is so true. I really don't explain myself to the naysayers anymore. Why bother?

Are you going to Disney again? Yes
How can you keep going back there every year? I like it.

I have found a place that makes me happy. I am lucky to be able to access Disney parks on a regular basis. Most people aren't as lucky as we are and they don't have a place that makes them feel that way.

There's no need to explain to anyone why you love the parks. I've tried and people tell me I am out of my mind. Who cares? You love it right? That's all that matters. Just tell them it's something personal to you and that should be enough for them to understand what it means to you. Disney as a whole is probably the single most important thing to me besides me family and friends. I've given up explaining to people why it's so important to me partly because I can't explain it. I love it and that is good enough for me. I don't care if I'm 20 and people think it's insane that I have all my disney stuff with me. It's who I am. I embrace it rather than hide it.

the same people who give you a hard time now for loving wdw are the same ones who will be jealous of you and your situation when your married and have kids and are such a great dad for putting your kids first and taking your vacations at wdw and they're all grumpy and getting divorced. i'm well into my 40s and wdw is still my favorite vacation place and is a very different place when i go with all adults, when i went with my kids when they were growing up, and now when i go with my granddaughter but i will say i still have the most guilty pleasure and fun when i do an all adult trip lol.

If they want to pay for my vacation, then they're allowed to tell me where I should and shouldn't go. Until then....

Disney World is not everyone's cup of tea. Which is fine w/me. Less people in the parks is always a plus. Everyone has their own thing. Don't judge me for mine and I won't judge you for yours.

At first I was all about convincing "you will believe when you see/experience it" but now it's like "hey, your loss."

Yeah... if I had a dime for everytime someone looked at me and said "How old are you again?". Whatever.... I love Disney and I really don't care what people think.

I got tired of telling people 'why' I love it so much and getting all the comments like, "Didn't you go there last year?" So now when asked where I'm going on vacation I just say, 'Florida' and smile! We were just there 3 weeks ago and would go back in a moments notice.

In May will be my 22nd trip to WDW. We own a timeshare with RCI and can choose to trade it in ANYWHERE in the world and where do we ALWAYS choose... WDW! People ask me "why don't you go here?" or "why not try something new?" My reply is "nope. We love Disney!" My whole mothers side of my family loves Disney so they get it. There's no place like it! :animwink:

I always ask-'Have you ever been?" when they say no,I say -"You have to experience it, I can't explain it to you." When they have a puzzled look, I just leave. :drevil:

I always bring out that there's a reason its the number one tourist destination in the world. Thats not because only kids and babies go there.

The ignorant are hilarious!:D
