Please dont attack me for asking this...

What happened to the Disney Institute? Why did it go under? And is there any other place that offers anything similar to what they had at the DI anywhere on property?

Disney Institute is still there. It is not in a specific building any more. The programs are in the Contemporary and others according to the programs. It never went under. They used to offer group or indivual programs for singles but the demand wasnt enough for singles only groups. They now have group and single programs but the single programs are booked through Florida Incentives. For singles you can book with them and when they get 20 or more singles together then they book with Disney as a group. If you are a group you can book directly with Disney.

Go to DISNEYINSTITUTE.COM FOR MORE INFO....

Not old, just vintage.
From what I understand, the Disney Institute that exists today is VERY different from what used to be housed on the land that has been turned into Saratoga Springs resort.

Today's DI is primarily for business people and is a way for people to learn about business-y stuff (management, leadership, etc.). The Disney Institute of the past offered programs to families to learn things like cooking, topiary, and rock climbing. I think it was detemined that people on vacation just didn't want to spend their time LEARNING. They just wanted to have a normal vaction like everyone else and RELAX.

Yes very true. All the programs are Biz related . Disney Institute is more for people in Mgt or Execs at big companies that want to learn the Mickey way of doing biz.You can still go as an individual but have to register with a 3rd party (need 20 or more)before they book as a group.Im going to take a program this year by myself and Ill have to bbok with Florida Incentive Group and when they get another 19 people to make 20 they will book us a a group.Im really excited to go.:sohappy:

Yeah, the old program was definitely geared more toward people who have been to WDW so many times that they needed something else to do there.

Also when I took the Yuletide Tour last Xmas, our tour guide worked at the DI... which is headquartered now at Celebration. I think they have alot to do with the tours and such also.

I did the DI twice when it was the programs, etc. I loved it and was sorry to see it go. It did sink because of all of the competition with being on the same properties as the parks, but I got to do alot of backstage stuff along with hitting the parks, etc.

The Disney Institue is still alive and well, although the specific building no longer exists.

Many WDW backstage tours are done through DI, and everything else is pretty much for businesses.
