Very sad. Thanks, Benjamin, for the link and for putting his picture on your avatar. Now I remember his face and know who he was. I have seen him on several Walt documentaries, etc.

He will truly be missed. Glad he wrote the book.

Ever notice that neither this book nor "The Disney Treasures" is available at The "Disney" Store or at disneystore.com? Sad, but you can find links to them all at the Disney family's museum site within the main Disney site... (http://disney.go.com/disneyatoz/waltdisney/giftshop.html).

We have to keep the legacy light shining for others to see...

Tiny Question

I am sorry for the loss of Mr. Hench, but if I may ask, what is he famous for? To say the truth, I never even heard of Mr. Hench until now. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and relatives, on my behalf.

Sad news I must say, John Hench was an amazing man. He will be truly missed. If you haven't already, be sure to read his book. It's really good and I recommend it.

Thank you John Hench for filling the Disney Parks with a wonderful carousel of color and for making a hilarious comment on DCA: "I liked it better wheen it was a parking lot"
We'll all miss you.

Disney Legend John Hench dies

Cast Portal mentions John's passing

Date: 02/06/2004

Animator, Walt Disney Imagineer and Disney Legend John Hench died of heart failure at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank on Feb. 5 at the age of 95.
"John was an original, not just a Disney original, but an original, period," said Marty Sklar, Walt Disney Imagineering vice chairman and principal creative executive. "In May, he would have celebrated his unprecedented 65th year in The Walt Disney Company, during which time his achievements are perhaps exceeded only by those of Walt Disney himself."

John began his Disney career as a sketch artist on Fantasia in the Walt Disney Studios in May 1939. He worked in story editing, layout, background, effects animation and special effects on such legendary Disney films as Dumbo, Peter Pan and Cinderella.

As a Walt Disney Imagineer, John was instrumental in the design of Disney theme parks and resorts around the world. Until two weeks ago, John went to work every day at Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, where he was actively involved in the design of the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.

John was 95.

Check out the March 4 issue of Eyes & Ears for a special tribute to this Disney Legend.

I really liked that quote from JimHillMedia.com.... About how he liked DCA better as a parking lot ;)

Well, its sad that now the last of the real Disney legends are begining to dye- and along with them is the last of the real Disney.
