Disney Grad Nite Changes

Its probably punishment since the grad night kids are always horrible....

Nights of Joy kids are so bad they should be moved to the DTD parking lot

Thank god that it's not changing this year. I will be going to grad night this year on Apirl 26th. No idea where the blast off party will be, up i just paid yesteday for the trip. Look forward to it :)

What's funny is that Grad Nite has always taken place at the Magic Kingdoms (ever since the '60s in Disneyland).

They are losing so many different activites by leaving the Magic Kingdom. But I'm sure Disney will make it up.

Maybe there will be special showings of Fantasmic. I remember a rumor of adding 13 drops to the Tower of Terror during the 13th Anniversary. Of course it never happened, but maybe during the new Grad Nites they'll add a bunch of drops to ToT to make it unique. :) I wonder what's in store....

I don't think moving either Grad Nite or Night of Joy to DHS is a good idea.

To those that say guests only attend the events for the bands are dead wrong. I've been going to Night of Joy yearly since 1990 and there were allows kids there that were only there for the rides. And I know personally at my own Grad Nite (96) I couldn't care less about either of the bands that played (PM Dawn and the one hit wonders the Rembrants). I went as it was basicly the last party I would truely have with most of the people from my High School.

As to there being better stages at DHS, while there may be more (BAH stage, ABC theater [maybe], Fantasmic, Indy, Backlot [Hunchback], B&B, and LMA) with the possible exception of the ABC theater none of those have the intimacy of Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe and absolsutely none can compare to the magic of seeing a performer in front of Cinderella's Castle.

This decision makes complete sense for Disney. By doing this they are adding this event to a park that better fits the demographic and grad nite and grad bash are all about the concerts and dance parties now with some rides mixed in. I was at Universal's in 06 the coasters had a easily a two hour wait, but that was for 3 rides the rest had none while the park was very busy. Also by doing this Magic Kingdom which is a cash cow can stay open later in a not so slow time of the year.

Big Mistake! With the amount of teens that go to Grad Nite.... 4 rides doesnt cut it.

I agree. DHS does cater to the demographic better than MK... but only with two rides. It's going to be BRUTAL. It's also such a small place. It will be bursting at the seams. I think they should have kept with tradition in this case.

Me either. What a let down for the Class of 2009. In this case, I'd rather go to Universal's Grad Bash....

I went to Grad Bash last year (class of '07) and actually had a VERY good time. One of the best times of my senior year actually. Both parks were open and most of the rides were open, and it wasn't too unbearably crowded. To tell the truth, I didn't watch any of the bands play. If I had gone to Grad Night, it probably would have been the same. So I can understand why people would only go for the rides. It's what I did. I would be BUMMED if it was at DHS. I probably wouldn't even go.

It seems that everyone on this thread thinks Grad Night is only about rides. Are you serious? I know it's a theme park, and that means rides, but having it at DHS will also mean more concerts and "special" stuff for them to do. Let's face it, you can ride the rides any old time, but Grad Night is unique.

Yeah but these are 17/18 year old kids. I remember back when I went all anyone cared about were hitting the rides. I remember passing the little "dance party" areas and there would be 10-15 kids over by it but that's it. When they let us in the park all I remember was everyone making a beeline for Peter Pan. lol
