I feel SO left out! As a charter "member" of Disney +, I am getting nothing special at home. If you can go to the parks that day great, but the majority of us can't just get up and go to WDW, or DL. Hey, Disney what about the rest of us? Did you forget us?
Unless you buy a $200 ticket for after hours magic or a $27,000 contract at the caribbean beach dvc…they care not for you.

They will still market it as one. And the shills...I mean pixie dusters will act like it is the second coming of Walt, like they do with every other “new” overlay.
Oh I know…

what they did was take one of the best original WDI rides ever (in wdw…the Disneyland version is somewhat creepy and jerky)…that satisfies a niche they have fallen behind in addressing and “Princess-ized” it. Which is the wrong direction.

Moana: a “park ornament”…I’ll take it…but it doesn’t serve the same purpose

patf?? That one eludes me.

guardians - great…but it broke ground in like 2017!!! What about 18, 19, 20? 22? 23?!?

parks require consistent, near constant investment.

dak hasn’t had a shovel thrown at it other than that dumb theater since 2017…no wait…they just tore down a coaster. My bad 🙄

studios? The dormancy clock is running…

Epcot…who knows? 2 new things but didn’t dent the two decades of decay too much.

magic kingdom? You’d be lucky to get anything for ten years starting in 2022

This is what it has become. When Bob Iger was asked about the theme parks early on as CEO he stayed that there would be no plans for a 5th Florida theme park as they wanted to focus on additions to existing parks.

He half kept that promise

Oh I know…which is exactly not how Disney operated it’s parks prior.

but he’s lauded…because of Stock price…which the majority of park goers don’t have.

this is how it goes in the blue ocean

Weak argument. I would say that 99.9%+ of customers at any given business don't own stock in it.

And just because its not how it was 'prior' doesn't mean that concentrating on existing parks isn't the right move now.

So the core truth is a weak argument? (Not that most customers don’t have it…it’s that all his accolades come back to stock price…because it’s basically a legalized form or speculative enterprise (gambling) with low risk)

ok…you do you

map out his record on the timeline and see just how much he “concentrated on the existing parks”

wdw is up…maybe…a net 5 in attractions after 16 years? 4 parks…that’s 64 years of operation…

cause math is fun!!

No, the 'core truth' is that its irrelevant. What percentage of people who shop at Target and Walmart own their stocks? Or any store, or Universal guests (Comcast)? What percentage of people who use Google own Alphabet stock? Or have an iPhone and own AAPL? You're making a false equivalency that ownership of a company's stock is important to those who use its product.

The habit of replacing instead of adding is a different animal (and discussion) altogether. Obviously they should add on instead of replace.

So highlight one anecdotal quip/joke and ignore that Bob didn’t really leave the parks much better off than the record of his hated predecessor in totality?

hey…valid angle…we of course were never going to always agree.😎

and to caveat…I would say Disneyland is better (but sat on it too much for the last 10 years since Carsland)…Paris is better (it was in really bad shape when he started) and Hong Kong has improved…
…Florida? No.

Cool.

Hope it works out for you.

That still doesn't make this attempted tie-in make sense to me. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, they could have opened everything an hour early for Bob's Birthday or Taco Tuesday (It's a Deadpool reference so it's a Marvel tie-in. It counts!) and it would have made just about as much sense to me.

Also, as another person pointed out, it's weird they're offering more with the parks for their streaming-service-promo-day than they did on the actual anniversary of the resort last month.
I agree the benefits from Disney+ Day are limited, I only mentioned that we will take advantage of one given.

You can watch your Disney + a half-hour earlier than you usually do. No charge.

Technically, FP+ and MDE were additions to parks...

Has this been brought up, yet? Disney is now in the NFT market.

The link isn't working on this site, so google Pixar NFT and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I'm not saying anything about them being limited. I'm questioning what Disney+, the internet streaming service has to do with the Walt Disney World Resort other than be owned by the same company.

With what is presented from them now in the parks, not much.
With what could be in a park meant for show business themed mission statement. Potentially and easily a lot. Their synergy art is dying.

So... How much of that "potential" you think they'll be done with by Disney+ day so that this tie in will make sense?
