Sewintodisney I love all of your stuff! I love that Mickey bag, what an awesome idea! You should make more and sell them on ebay!

SewIn2Disney thanks for the advice, particularly the tip about letting the gingerbread sit for a week. That would've never crossed my mind! and the friend I mentioned who makes the elaborate houses said the same thing about just starting with a regular house this year. She told me that the castle should be my "5 year plan" haha. My problem is I'm not patient and when I want to do something, it tends to be in a haphazard manner. But I of course want everything to be perfect. I'm this bizarre cross of OCD and ADD :) maybe OCADD?:hammer:

Love the mickey bag, very cute! I also agree about selling them on e-bay or maybe an etsy shop? Love the gem magnets too. I make a lot of those, but only a few disney ones as I can't always find properly sized images. I never thought about using park maps...I'm sure we have a ton around here somewhere!

As far as my stocking project is going, all my supplies are bought. I think tomorrow is cookie/gingerbread baking day and sunday will be felt day. whoo hooo!:xmas:

Thanks!
Good Luck with your Gingerbread---I'm sure a quick google search will provide a few more tips I forgot to include. Makre sure you post a picture of it (and the stockings) as soon as your done!

As far as selling the backpack----I wasnt sure if I could. I don't want to get slammed with a copyright infringement. I did have a shop on Etsy for awhile, but it just didn't do well. I sold mainly purses that I design. Every time I go to Disney, I bring my Mickey Backpack (I'll have to find a pic of it, it's more intricate), and I always get tons of compliments, and even CM's ask me where I bought it.....but as far as selling them.....I don't know.
And the magnet gem pictures are mainly cut out of those ads for Checks (I think from Current?) They've always got Disney checks, with little tiny Disney icons next to it. Most of the images are cut out of magazine/sale flyer ads, and Mod Podged on....it's real easy.

MissM--you should post your swap goodies on here---you made out really well!

I haven't been doing much (finals are coming up!) But I did bake this Mickey cake for my b/f last week. Baking is a type of craft---so I figured I'd post it here:

I made these for my sons room (5 months old) out of wood. Made the stencils on my computer first then cut and hand painted.

I also made this costume for halloween for him. I made the compass from scrap wood from the letters. :-)

Good idea. My partner did a GREAT job!

The swap that SewIn2Disney and I were part of was a handmade craft swap with a Disney theme. I posted some pics of things I did for my half and so did she. Here's some of what I received from my partner. My partner's screen name is "peppermint-tea" on the other community. (I did NOT make these; I received these as my half of the swap. They were made for me.) Can you believe she's this talented and only 16 years old??

She hand drew and hand painted The Little Mermaid shoes for me. They are VERY detailed!!

She also hand drew and hand color some Lady and the Tramp images which she put on a notebook:

(Front and back respectively.)

Didn't my partner do an amazing job? :sohappy:

here's some more stuff (are you guys tired of me yet? lol)
I went to an ornament swap party over the weekend, and here's two Disney themed ornaments that I made. They're both made with decoupaged tissue paper on a glass ball. The images were created using rubber stamps I had colored in with Sharpie markers.

Santa Mickey

And I also made a "Four Parks" one using the icon rubber stamps I bought a few years ago

Do any of you have any experiance with mosaics? I have a car I'm working on and I was thinking of doing a mossaic SSE on the hood. At first I thought about using mirrors, but then I thought that with glare from the sun, that might not be so cool when I drive it. So, any other ideas of materils I might could use, or a way to dull the mirrors somewhat?

I have a program that makes a photo mosaic, you could go to a local sign company and have them vinyl wrap your hood.

I'm back into crafting again, now that the holidays are over!
Goya products was running a “Disney Dreams Giveaway” where the entrants had to create a “Disney Masterpiece” out of Goya products. Any Goya product could be used, but there were a list of things given where at least one of those items had to be used. The grand prize is a trip for 6 to Walt Disney World—-of course I had to enter.
It was getting down to the deadline last week, so my mom and I buckled down to think of ideas. We spent hours online, looking through books, and just sitting in my Disney-filled room, looking for inspiration. In the end, we came up with four ideas, and the Saturday before it was due, we sat down to create.
My main entry was entitled Chef Mickey Says, “Goya makes *juggling* dinner ideas easy!” I spent the most time on this entry (and its the one I hope wins)

Finished product

You were judged on your creativity, orignality, how you used the Goya products, and the relevance between Disney and Goya. So all of my titles are very corny to help tie everything together.

Here are the Beans before being transformed

Sketch of Mickey

Mickey all outlined with dyed rice. I lay them on there with glue one grain at a time using a pair of tweezers.

And after many many hours of filling in with various dried beans, you get this

My boyfriend and I created Figment, titled "The goodness of goya---not just a Figment of your imagination"
Here is Figment all finished

And here is the one my mom did. Hers is titled "Disney and Goya ~ The perfect marriage"
She took a balloon and paper mached it, then covered it with rice. Then she took white beans and made a cobblestone path, dyed rice for the grass, and printed pictures of goya cans for the customary "cans" dragging behind the just married coach. The castle in the background is one I made a few years ago in a sculpture class.

I have more pictures, plus another one that I did in my blog:

And here is the website for the contest where you can view other people's entries in the Masterpiece Gallery

lol... I'm sorry- actually, I've been crafting with my mom for over 15 years so I forget how weird it sounds... I always want to do one of those, but I can't commit... my mom is working on the castle one and the self-portrait one; the castle one drives her insane because of the blending...
