I wish for your safety and the safety of your family you would stop using Uber they are not safe and are an extremely dangerous option. I have a friend who 2 years our has not yet recovered from being beaten and sexually assaulted by her Uber driver, and UBER background checks are a joke, I work for a medical courier and UBER is constantly hiring people that we reject due to criminal background.

This is 100% true. I have been killed every time I've used Uber.

I think it's a horrible choice for Disney. They lose a lot of their head-start if step 1 is 'download lyft.. complete a profile.. enter a credit card.. etc'

I'm a bit skeptical of that site's intel so far. These choices seem extremely odd.
agreed, partnering seems totally odd

partnering they loose a cut of the cash

disney experience app integration would have been much smarter and better for long term

as most guests will already have it on their phones before they start a trip

it could even have a pop up like an hour before someones dinner reservation and be like "it's time to leave for dinner, would you like to request a "minnie van" with some cute graphic

I'm surprised about the Lyft integration. I was hoping it'd be through the Disney app and that payment could be via Magic Band.
magic band integration would have been good for picking up unscheduled rides at designated pick up points

Just an observation on driverless tech,

Passed a US Army unmanned convoy this morning on SB 131 this morning. Not a soul in the driver's cab and rolling at 65 mph.
didnt know this was legal yet
Does anyone know if you can still request a regular lyft?
dont know about disney to disney, but surely you still can since people will still want to leave property

So how are you able to request one now, is there an app or do you just walk up and ask?

I will be checking in at the Boardwalk tomorrow and would love to try it out. Any info. on how to reserve one?

Seems like right now while its in beginning testing, its just walk up and ask if there's some sitting there

other than someone saying these are tied to lyft, though they could have been trolling, there hasnt been word on the app yet

This looks interesting to me. Something I haven't seen mentioned is where these vehicles drop their passengers off at the parks. For instance, UBER can't take you to the MK. You have to go to the contemporary or TTC but can the Minnie Vans? Do these go to the same places where the express bus service thing goes? That could justify the added expense over UBER/LYFT.

Yeah, direct drop-off at MK would be very nice, as long as it's faster than a bus would it be worth it though. Buses at boardwalk are pretty good in my experience.

From what I've read if you're staying at the boardwalk/yacht club and Beach club you just go to the concierge and they will get the Minnie Van. The updated app for Lyft will be released July 26. It will know when you're on property and make the Minnie Van option available.

If the Minnie Vans could drop you off at park entrance, I would 100% use them every time I had to take a bus to a park. We usually stay at the Epcot resorts, so I would gladly pay 20$ a trip to get to the MK and Animal Kingdom. I've never experienced terrible bus service, but I can imagine the experience being much quicker and more pleasant than bussing. Bonus points if they play Disney music in the vans! Take my money!!

I see a lot of people on Facebook saying "Uber is cheaper"

BUT....once this is properly up and running aren't Disney likely to either stop Uber coming onto WDW property or maybe limit them to the TTC?

I wonder if they let the passengers get out on the driver side, or does everyone have to scoot all the way across? Guests getting out on the driver side would be fairly close to the buses driving by. Not directly in the path, of course, but close enough that any safety consultant or lawyer looking at it would have a heart attack.

I don't know if this is always true. For a simular ride on uber it's only a dollar or two less and at some points even more expensive.

For example a trip from CBR to AKL is about $9.22. However that is only seating 4 people and does not include a cat seat. The same trip with a car seat is $17.29. If you need all the space the mini van provides (8 people) you pay $15.69 (for six 6 people two less than Minnie) with a car seat it is $23.43.

So depending on your party size and need for a car seat MinnieVans (from what i read disney is providing 2 car seats per van which is a good value if you need them)it is actually competitively priced when compared apples to apples. Sure if you and your spouse want a quick ride to Disney Springs Uber is going to be cheaper, want to drag the whole family along and need car seats Minnie might actually work in your favor.

But Uber don't have minnie mouse styled cars ...

Lyft is my usual method when I need a ride, whether in Orlando or in Philly. The fares are cheaper and the drivers are typically happier (they freely tell me they all hated driving for Uber and love Lyft far more). During my last visit in April, I took a Lyft from my late dinner at the Poly back to All Star Movies, where I was staying. After checking my ride history, that ride was $12.43 for a 6 mile ride for 2 people. The $20 flat fee is garbage. If you are able to use Uber, do it.
