It's definitely a Traverse. Just look at the back window:

This is the Equinox:

Besides, why would you think a security van was painted with the Minnie Van logo and colors? Undercover work? :D
I was saying that the vans parked in the MK lot are Chevy Equinox, and that Minnie Vans are using the Traverse.

Security tend to use the Equinox, so Ii was suggesting that the parked vehicles at the MK lot were destined for security.

they may be the same as in yes they both provide transportation

i can see them attracting different customer bases

some people just want to walk out and have a ride waiting for them and dont think about the cost,

while uber customers are specifically looking for the low cost option unless their using a premium service

while many older people are becoming more techno advanced, some still prefer the "old fashioned" way of doing things and as such would never request an uber on their phones

.
I am not sure if I am "older people" yet. I will be 43 in a few weeks. I like the old fashioned way. :)

I only got a smart phone a little bit over two years ago. I never use an app to do anything, well as many use them anyway. I mean I have a calculator app and things like that.

As much as I hate to drive in a new place, this all makes me want to rent a car at the airport and just drive where we need to go. Which, when and if we go will be between room and park. I have never in my life been inside of a taxi, no public transportation to speak of, and I don't feel good about requesting a random person to show up and drive me around.

I agree it is nice to be private, but you would only pay $20 instead of free transport if you were very rich, and the cars are boring compared to the monorail and gondolas.
I'm not rich but the last time I spent a weekend with friends at WDW - we skipped using free transportation and used Lyft everywhere. Dividing it by 4, it was only like $4 a person each time and we got to set our pick up time and our drop off spot within the resort. It's not like I'm a snob - I just like to splurge on certain things.

Yes, but my family is not worth the risk to me and these attacks are in the news more and more and UBER and LYFT will hire anybody I know of people that they have hired who have DWI, theft charges, and 1 confirmed I know of the just hired is a registered sex offender.

I don't mean to be rude, but Uber "attacks" happen at the same rate as taxi "attacks." Stuff happens, but at no greater rate with those companies. Background checks are performed before anybody can drive. You hear more about the Uber issues because it's more newsworthy and get more clicks on social media. You're 100x more likely to get into an accident on the way to the airport in your own car than have a serious issue with an Uber driver.

So, do you think Disney might simply block access to Uber (thru both web and app) for anyone using their Wi-Fi?

Obviously guests could still use data, but I bet a number of people switch to the free Wi-Fi while at Disney so they don't have to use their data allotment. They try to contact Uber, get an error, then give up and go with a Minnie Van instead.

Just a thought...

No. They won't. They're already waived parking fees, implemented ride share pick-up areas and much more behind the scenes coordination. This service will supplement that. They will go after the luddites who have an aversion to ride sharing apps (like many in this thread), aren't aware they are available on Disney property or who want better access than Uber can provide (i.e. direct drop-off to Hoop-Dee-Do, Magic Kingdom main entrance, etc).

If a ride is only $20 across the board, regardless of destination or the number of people in your party, then the Minnie (how Disney is that? So cute) van is a good value for families coming back late night, or running late for a dining res. Certainly easy to spot! Uber and Lyft are also good for smaller parties, like my family. I can see these coexisting peacefully, since they can easily serve different groups. As far as safety is concerned, I wouldn't call an Uber if I was alone, but I am never alone. I have my husband and two adult sons there with me, so I would think the driver would be more nervous than we would be. Although, I do have to say those vans are adorable, and someone (?) mentioned staying in the Disney "bubble" is important to some families. They would certainly achieve that!

A reasonable expense of money. We use uber and taxis to get to the parks several times a trip. Usually it is $20 or less. If we walk out of Pop and see the bus stop line full, with an ECV waiting, we get a taxi right away. By the time the bus gets there, the ECV gets on, 18 double wide strollers, and if I am even lucky enough to get on the bus, but still standing for 20 minutes, the taxi will have dropped me off. We figure it saves at minimum half an hour, but we all know what it's like to not fit on the first bus, and then wait an additional 20 minutes for the next one.

So, what does $20 get us? One more attraction more than those stuck on the bus.

Looks like you order the Minnie Vans through the Lyft app and each car has two car seats.

interesting

uber really missed the boat on this, though theyve been distracted by other things

looks like the future for lyft is much brighter than uber

I think it's a horrible choice for Disney. They lose a lot of their head-start if step 1 is 'download lyft.. complete a profile.. enter a credit card.. etc'

then your the exact customer for the minnie vans, since that random person is now a disney employee

I'm a bit skeptical of that site's intel so far. These choices seem extremely odd.

Curious if they will allow you to be picked up at the boardwalk and then pick up a couple more guests at the French quarter and then head on to the Magic Kingdom. We do this kind of thing here in the city that we live in.
