Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

"This time last year, the Imagineers were giving some semiserious thought to overhauling Maelstrom into a Frozen-themed attraction. But after 5-hour lines developed to see Anna and Elsa in Norway, EPCOT managers saw how all that humanity gummed up the entire pavilion and made it difficult for everyone else to get around World Showcase Lagoon. Worried about traffic flow, Disney put this idea in cold storage while it searches for a way to put a really long queue into the existing Norway buildings."

For the first couple years Maelstrom was open, it was common to have a switchback rope queue through the courtyard and into the main path. I seem to remember seeing the queue extend halfway to Mexico. If they need an extended queue again, all they need is a bit more shade in the courtyard to appease the modern amusement park visitor. Setup some temporary sails at the same time the ropes go up.

I remember the first time I rode Maelstrom. We joined the queue somewhere in the courtyard. It snaked it's way back and forth and finally through the entrance doors. Heading up the ramp I thought the wait was finally about to end. Oh the disappointment to head up the ramp, around the corner and.... More queue.

Then to add insult to injury, the ride drops you off in a quaint Norwegian fishing village... Which is another queue to see a movie.

I'm wondering about the wisdom of putting so much Frozen into the parks when it really has not stood the test of time. Yes, it is popular at the moment, but what about the next movie that the little kids go crazy over? This Frozen ride will have to be around for quite a number of years to get their (Disney's) money's worth out of it.

When this opens, i'll skip through Norway, oops Arendelle, asap. From Mexico through to China, or at least until they ruin those countries as well. As far as that goes, if they foul up World Showcase much more, i'd probably skip Epcot entirely.
If you don't think they've ruined Mexico, you should be fine with Norway. At least it will get Audio Animatronics figures...

True, for those that are fine with it. I know Im not one of them but at least with Mexico its still a tour through Mexico (as debauched as they made it lol),, this as far as we know will not even make a mention or ode to Norway. But least the figures will be better like you said.
