Youve assimilated yourself before it even opens and without a clue as to the level of quality? And if any more "evolving" takes place, calling it World Showcase will just be plain ignorant.

I know a lot of folks here feel similarly, but here's the thing...WS hasn't had a new attraction in since 1988 when Maelstrom was built to begin with. That's nearly 30 years ago. It's been very clear for a very long time that the WS we envisioned back then is never coming to fruition.

World "Showcase" is already a misnomer - it only "showcases" a very limited juxtaposition of countries, and at some point - say, after 30 years in a "showcase" without change, it's really a "museum".

Like Future World, I think folks are very very attached to the 1980's PR and just have a real hard time seeing what's really been sitting there vs. what they envisioned it would become.

unis response to Pandora seems to be Kong. Nice but not quite the same.
Uni's "response" (if they even care about that) was more likely Diagon Alley, they just got it done much faster. Everything else is just a great big bonus :) Just for fun, how would you compare Avatar to Volcano Bay? The project that'll actually open alongside it in 2017? I'm sure you can find a way to spin it in Disney's favor ;)

Volcano Bay is Unis response to TL and BB. Hopefully they raise the bar. Sounds likely. Fun to witness real competition. Sea Worlds new coaster etc looks compelling too.

Universal didn't respond to Pandora; Pandora was Disney's response to Potter.

That was the extent of the "conversation" - as Universal just continued to plow ahead and between the time Disney announced Pandora and when guests can actually walk in, Universal will have announced and opened more new, big scale rides for it's two parks than WDW has in the past 20 years for it's four parks.

It isnt, but if it was, I would laugh because look at the pace of construction versus the two. Its laughable. Skull Island is very impressive looking and you can already see what its shaping up to be. As far as Avatar, it took over a year to even go vertical once they started and even now you can make anything out. Considering Disney has much more space to work within compared to Uni it is even more of a joke.

Kong's scenery will not float. And Pandora will have multiple attractions. So there is that to consider.

Not doubting its success just its timelessness as a franchise in the long run. Meaning with future generations of fans. Cars is clearly timeless in this respect. Not sure Frozen is in the same category. Possibly, even likely, but not guaranteed.

IMO.
Just like all of the other Disney princesses weren't timeless ;)

Frozen will still be popular like the other Disney princess films other than PATF. Disney animation is timeless in its own right. A well done Frozen attraction (like what DisneySea is getting) should be fine regardless.

Well one of them is Soarin' esque, so it very well could be in a regular show building covered up by some 'floating' rockwork.

And the boat ride could share some of the E-ticket's footprint.

The point is that Avatar was announced 4 years before Kong and started construction 1.5 years before Kong, yet Kong should open 12-18 months before it. Even if it's just one attraction, Disney should have finished construction by summer 2015 if they started late 2012/early 2013.

My understanding is the parties involved want to time the opening as far as possible with the new trilogy. Disney does not own the franchise so some give and take seems to be part of the deal. Not that this means they were at odds, just accomadating to each parties interests. IMO.

Of course it's war!!! Disney is prepping for the battle of 2016, but I fear they may have lost before its even begun....... I'll let you all use your imaginations to guess what this gif represents.

/sarcasm, not much of a war if only one side is truly fighting is it?
You mean the battle of 2017/2018, right?

Volcano Bay, spillover from Kong, Twister getting replaced by Fallon/Rock Center, some hotel expansion, a new hotel, a revamp for MSHI, an Avengers E, Nintendo replacing KidZone, JP enhancements, that oft-rumored IOA nighttime show, Fast and Furious replacing Disaster and rumors of something Wicked/Oz... versus

Toy Story Playland, Inside Out replacing Imagination, an announcement for a 2022 opening date of SWL in DHS, and Pandora's first full year :D

I wonder who will win ;)

Whats even more sad is that 90% of what you listed for Disney hasnt even been confirmed or announced yet.

No, I meant 2016. Hulk is Kong, Loki is Elsa ;)

It's not happening before 2021 unless SWL is announced at D23 this year and starts breaking ground this fall.

So true... TDO might think Inside Out has to do $400 million+ DOM for an Imagination/WoL redo.. I'd say TSPL is a done deal with how cheap it would be. $70-80 million for 3 attractions.

And Star Wars Land is just going to happen in the early 2020s.
