Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

As a Mexican I still hated that ride.
it was "Donald randomly appears for tiny moments around stereotyped stuff in an screen".

I would have loved to see more stuff, like full quality charro suits... the different dances... and not just the "famous" ones.. more historic wise.
The videos also are kinda ancient... like that Acapulco diving video that was probably taken in the 80's.
Your negative view of Gran Fiesta is precisely why I hated Maelstrom. I don't think replacing it with Frozen is a good idea (I fall into the "Not enough capacity" and "The IP deserved a much better and larger attraction" camps), but I also don't see much difference in replacing a fictional depiction of a real country with a fictional depiction of a fictional country inspired by a real country.

I dont see how the rest of the pavilion could remain the same. The meet and greet is not that small. It is taking up an expansion pad that goes back a fair amount. Granted that may include stroller parking space, because that will be an issue. Beyond that you have the restaurant which is already princessified. The gift shop which is slowly going the way of 98%frozen merch, and a bakery... My guess is the bakery will be the same only with more frozen themed food. Not much of norway will remain after this.

its a waste of an expansion pad and poor use for it as martin has stated. They arent even using the whole pad, and the back part will be for management parking. unbelievable, when it could have been used for a full on pavilion/attraction. its all a very short term fix.
and not much else is suppose to change regarding Norway, except for the millions of people who won't fit there or anywhere else from mexico to china,,,but otherwise the shop is still suppose to carry Norwegian nonfrozen merch,,I dont know about akershus but wouldnt be surprised to see changes, the whole princess thing is needs to go.

The M&G building itself is only taking up about half the expansion pad, if not a little less.

[Edit] Now that I go back and look at the plans, it's only taking up about a third of the pad.

As long as they don't get rid of school bread. Heck, put an Olaf face on it or a plastic snowflake, but don't make it "disappear disappear!!"

Let me predict the future for you...

Frozen Ever After will be sooo popular, the average wait time every day will be about 2 hours. Disney's solution is to add an additional track in the other 2/3 of the expansion pad just to add more capacity ala Soarin/TSM.

Anyway, I'm surprised they didn't push the building further back considering the huge crowds that will descend on this one spot at EPCOT.

Also, will the M&G building sparkle like the other World Showcase countries during Illuminations?

I'm no engineer but I'm guessing it would be cheaper to build an attraction with the right amount of capacity from the get-go rather than adding it later, especially for a ride like this.

Plenty of Room to create Arendelle's Chocolate Shop. I bringing this up since Anna and Elsa love the small of Chocolate and a chance to sell stuff like Arendelle Milk Chocolate Coins as an example. I can see Disney actually considering this since they love to add food places to World Showcase as a way to make more money.

No I doubt it, even Norway itself never had the lighting package for IllumiNations.

Really, you can only shake your head at this whole dumb idea. Didn't ANYONE at the concept meetings for this ride bring up the capacity issue? The crowds and the potential nightmare? Did ALL they look at is numbers and dollars and...oh wait, this isn't the Walt Disney Company anymore. It's the Robert Iger Company. Never mind... :(

or they probably will add another M&G area (aka 2 pairs of princesses) and not expanding the ride.. because expanding means money.
