Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I dont understand why it HAS TO BE FROZEN and IT HAS TO BE NOW! Anybody making excuses for Disney operates on the premise that the company MUST react quickly. Why? That has never been the M.O. of the parks and they have done just fine all these years. Its not because Frozen made a billion dollars. They just needed to throw something out there quickly when Uni started looking better to potential guests.

Nonetheless, the fans want it, so they will give it to them, in the most simple form they can, and they will be applauded for it.

Every little girl is still a relatively narrow fanbase because it's only little girls (yes, that's a sweeping generalization but it's broadly correct). Little boys aren't lining up for Frozen and neither are honeymoon couples, the elderly, spring breakers, or high school band trips.

You're so right. Just look below. Nothing but little girls as far as the eye can see. That little girl is bald and has a beard. That other little girl has grey hair. Those little girls look a lot like a couple with no children. Actually, come to think of it, I'm having a hard time spotting ANY little girls in this picture.

Compensation for the pain to change your flight is not compensation.
So if I arrive at the airport and the flight has been overbooked and now I have to wait 4 hours for the next flight, its not a pain? Id love to know where you draw the line and stop excusing bad business.

The meet and greet.... Hmmm. Assume 3 rooms to visit our friends in. Assume 2 meets/minute per room, so 6 per minute. (Some serious Love and Shove.) So thats 360/hr.... Assume 12 hours and 4320 per day.

Dios Mio.... As the two together? 15,120/day.

I don't know why I'm arguing this since I agree with your overall point that the waits are going to be horrendous. But 1 meet is usually made up of a family. If you think the average family is 4 then you are looking at getting 24 per minute, 1440 an hour and in a 12 hour day 17280. But I think 1 minute a greet is a little fast.

But at this point we have to McDonalds drive thru your M&G. Under 60 seconds: hello, name, hug, photo, wave, NEXT!

you're saying that a) a compensation of the cost of the flight + food tickets (and/or with hotel vouchers) is not compensation?

So if I arrive at the airport and the flight has been overbooked and now I have to wait 4 hours for the next flight, its not a pain? Id love to know where you draw the line and stop excusing bad business.

specially if you have to stay overnight somewhere because your connection flight was lost.
Id be VERY angry. (worse when a paid deluxe hotel room night goes to trash)

I base it off of how I've seen liens work at SWW.

You know what? @asianway would know. AW, how many guests/minute can usually see a character?

No. Why do you ask? Is it just to fit in with everyone else?

It was a direct question. As I said. No more, no less.....

Here is another. Do you operate a blog or website that makes any references Disney?

LOL. This is too funny and so true!

Wow, very good post and insight! I have to agree.

I haven't avoided anything. I will never back down from fight, so long as it makes sense. I don't argue with fools. But, you already know this. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

What's in a refurb? There a was refurb planned for Space Mountain in 2009 and once it reopened the ride actually felt worse! And, I don't have to elaborate on some of the past Splash Mountain refurbs. Oh, and those new splashy boats on Pirates are awesome, lol.

@marni1971 I thought we were on the same page, but I am clearly on page 2015 and you are on page 1982 -- no wonder we can't seem to agree.

I totally disagree. The Norway Pavilion is a beautiful, impressive structure as it stands and Disney is adding enhancements to this area, it will be beautiful when it is completed. I don't think it will be cheap. I don't like cheap things.

Exactly, so my ten year time line isn't all that extreme. The estimates for the Frozen overlay were $80 to $100 million. I believe it will be closer to $100 million.

Okay, I totally understand your point but I feel like ten years is accurate, in part, because Disney already has a list of projects currently underway -- Avatarland in 2017, Toy Story Pixar Land 20??, and Star Wars Land in 2020.

S0, Disney wouldn't start Frozen land until after Star Wars Land is fully completed. We know this because construction for Avatarland did not begin until the 7DMT was completed, technically Disney could have started construction on Avatarland before 7DMT, but they didn't.

Um, I don't post walls of text -- not ever! And, there are no crickets, I am not a robot.

LOL...
Your above reply is a wall of text.

Here's a couple of videos of The Land Pavilion model:

:jawdrop:.........
You still doesnt answer my very direct, yes-or-no question: Is it fair to Frozen fans to have their ride squeezed into a 900 guests/hour low capacity attraction?
Answering questions isn't in the job description.
Remember when WDW aficionados didn't have to lower their expectations?
Yeah............ I miss those times :(
The Wdisney9000 pavilion would be quite simple. Kegs of quality craft beer served by Margo Robbie and Kate Upton AA's with 80's top hits music playing. My ride would be a dark ride recreation of the OBT in its heyday. Done! You could fit in the tiny Africa section.
I wonder what the Mike S pavilion would be like...........
Modern Disney still exceeds my expectations. I expect them to build mediocre attractions really slowly. And I am always blown away with how slowly Disney builds. And I am really impressed with the level of mediocrity they have achieved.

You go, Mickey!
Ooooo, ooooo, oooooooh! I got one.

I was noticing that the concept art clearly shows 1 AA and 2 massive screens. Will we hear a peep from all the people who SLAM Universal's screens?
(Mortal Kombat voice) Disneyhead wins............ Fatality..........
At least they fixed many issues with the ride. like the horrible visible ceiling equipment and the way too bright light.
hopefully they will be adding the repairs and modifications it needs.
There is plenty still noticable though........ Mermaid, like SDMT (and next year Frostrom as well), could've been sooooooo much better :(
Well, it was either this or wait 10 years which obviously isn't fair to 10 year old girls who love Frozen. Obviously, this is the lesser of the two possible evils. If Disney had one single better option, they would have taken it. But nope. It was just these two absolutely horrendous choices and Disney had to pick.

Or so I hear.
:hilarious:
I'm holding out hope for a DCA-caliber redo at DHS. If that's what we end up getting, I'd much rather see that than Frozen.
It doesn't have to be a choice. It could've been part of the redo.
I might be wrong about this, but I think you're misinterpreting the Frozen fanbase. I think it's more small and passionate than broad and casual. Frozen doesn't need to be high-capacity because it has a limited audience and that audience is hardcore. The hardcore audience is exactly the one you want directed towards a low-capacity attraction because they're the ones willing to wait two hours for a ride. If "Frozen fans" are willing to wait three hours for a meet and greet, then let them wait three hours. The non-Frozen fans will happily skip it. Contrast that with something like Big Thunder Mountain. There aren't that many hardcore Big Thunder Mountain railroad fans, so it requires a capacity that keeps waits low enough to entice casual fans to ride. Frozen needs no such incentive because those little princesses are riding come hell or high water.
image.jpg

Sure. But those "more ideal" choices would have come at the expense of even more more ideal choices. i.e. it would be a bigger loss for Frozen to get in the way of Star Wars at DHS than for it to replace Maelstrom at Epcot.
I hate how this is how the world of theme parks works. It's so terrible how Diagon Alley will cut so much into the quality of King Kong and Volcano Bay.......... Wait a minute.........

ETA: if you want a Disney example how about the New Fantasyland Tokyo will be getting in addition to Frozen? And they still have time to do a Finding Nemo makeover to one of their other aging rides as well.

We have to keep in mind that other attraction lines are not the same as meet and greet lines. Any other attraction line is made up of people that ALL want to experience the attraction. In a meet and greet line many in the line are just filler and accompanying the one or two that want to meet. They're just camera and autograph book holders. They make the line look longer than it is. But, they do take a lot of people out of lines for other attractions. It will be bad for not just this but the ride. I will be enjoying other areas of the park.

I'm familiar with how it works.

I am saying that is horrible business. Re read my comment. I said when airlines over book I have a right to be upset as each plane only has so many seats.

I am saying that is not worth the waste of my time. My time is way way more valuable then what an airlines gives. So no it is not compensation it is the bare min they can do for the screw up since you had an assigned seat.

With a park nothing anywhere says I will get to ride the new ride today. Nothing says I am promised a spot on a magical boat to the land of frozen.... Except if I fast pass plus it. Lol
