I'm excited, with all these negative comments, I'm sure the park is going to empty out.....LMAO!!!! People get it together, this ride is going to be awesome and so will EPCOT.

Well I hope that they at least try to make the ride more thrilling and if possible longer! Maybe get rid of the theater use it as the rides exit and take the old one (the small village) into another show scene.

Soooo....I have been reading this thread all day, commented somewhere on page 16 or 18, don't remember but I kept reading. At one point, I read a post that brought me to tears (can't find it now). I didn't even realize how much I missed all that Epcot used to be.

As a former CFO/Manager of a not for profit, I remember how critical our mission statement and defining goals were. Stating your reason for being in a clear on concise manner so that all decisions could be compared to said statement and evaluated based on whether or not the decision would reflect your mission and goals was hugely important. Never have I been so cruelly reminded that Disney is NOT a charitable organization. Using a quote by Walt Disney regarding Disneyland to gut the mission and definition of Epcot in order to placate Disney fans is low, and insulting.

Epcot has always been my favorite park and watching it deteriorate has been painful. Once upon a time, in about 1999 I brought my kids, then 9 and 11 to WDW and guess what? Their favorite park was Epcot. At the time, a group of people were demonstrating the capabilities of the Mars rover in the area near the fountain. Innoventions E&W were full of interactive displays, the WoL pavilion was fully open. When we finally made it over to World Showcase, they were in awe of the architecture of the different countries. We watched every movie, visited every country and, of course rode the two rides. The only things they bought with their saved up allowances were purchased in World Showcase at Epcot. The "dumbing down" of this park has hit me hard and this announcement, along with Tom Staggs comments on the blog are really depressing me.

Once upon a time, you didn't need an adult beverage to enjoy Epcot.

But the ride is going to focus on the movie, which has very little to do with Norwegian culture at all. It's not like the original story is a Norwegian one. As @Bolna pointed out, the original tale is from an entirely different country (Denmark).

Seems like a lot of people think it has a lot to do with Norway. Perception is greater than reality an all :)

Lots of folks in Norway are embracing Frozen and all the attention it is bringing them. If it's cultural enough for the Norwegians it's cultural enough for a guy from Texas :)

Yeah, those will be the same guests that are brainwashed and don't know or care what Disney and EPCOT was really about, same people that don't give a crap about preserving culture and so on. :cautious:
Hmmm, Epcot was "supposed" to be about the Community of Tomorrow according to Walt. So where did the WSC play into that vision???

No, those of us that are smart will be there avoiding the "fake Norway pavillion" aka Arandelle and all the crying whiny brats that will be there to see their beloved anna and elsa with their cranky parents waiting in line for 5+hrs. LOL Have fun with that. The rest of us will be having fun in the REAL countries of the World Showcase!

New Zealand promotes travel to the LoTR movie sites. Doesn't mean they think it's part of their culture, they're simply availing themselves of easy tourist dollars....

Wow, that really goes to show how much you DON'T know about EPCOT and "Uncle Walt's vision" the vision of Walt and imagineers was to have a "Experimental Prototype Community of Tommorow" as well as a place where different cultures could interact in harmony with one another. AKA a permanent World's Fair.

Any more questions?!

I am really sick of Frozen. I don't think it is a good movie, let alone the best movie since Beauty and the Beast. The music is awful, the characters boring, the plot...completely over complicated. all it is is some pretty flashy ice for the kids. I am sorry, that is how I feel.

I understand it is popular but Disney is really REALLY going overboard with the 'stick it everywhere in the park' thing. First the Frozen Studios all summer, then the Maelstrom, and now Christmas. Yes, I can understand Christmas and had it been the only thing they did, I would appreciate it better. But not on top of two other forced park appearance.

I personally thing Disney needs to close Blizzard Beach, remodel it into Arendell and stick all the Frozen stuff over there. Then, Frozen gets it's own park, already snow themed...Add a Castel restaurant and some Party/character stuff and everybody's happy. Me because I don't have to see Frozen everywhere I go and all the fans who get their own park where they can sing 'Let it Go' 24/7

I think what really did it for me is it is not just Disney but everywhere else. I belong to a dance school where they were trying to stick Frozen into everything. The did Let if Go for the recital finale, despite the fact it had nothing to do with the actual theme of the recital....they made their Musical Theater class that summer Frozen themed (instead of an actual Broadway show), not to mention a Frozen themed 'make your own snowflake' contest in the winter and then this year they were going to do Frozen for their recital's mid program production. Thank god they had some sense to change it and do something else.

Again, I get kids love it...but I am just sick of it. Too much of a good thing (if you can call this good) can be a bad thing.

Sorry for the rant. I am just over this movie. I really hope that this all calms down by April 2015. I can't take it anymore. Guess I need to Let it Go

Like I posted I will let the Norwegians decide what is representative of their culture and what is not. It's not my place to do so. From the evidence I see they have embraced Frozen.
