So when is this supposed to be completed?
Early 2016 for the Maelstrom ride, probably later for the M&G.
So when is this supposed to be completed?
Do people still care for Lion King, Mermaid, Snow White?Seeing it's a year away. Will people even care about Frozen any longer?
No, it wouldn't. It'd still be an American film.Maybe Disney will incorporate more elements of Norway/Norwegian culture into Frozen 2. Then, it will make more sense for it to be in EPCOT.
American Film, Japanese Film, Russian Film, that does not matter...the content is what matters, and does it showcase enough of Norwegian Influences to represent the culture...
What'd we miss? They are finally getting started!
I would agree in general....and hope that the ride will address this issue... The old Maelstrom was fun but always seemed like a half of a ride to me... it just gets started and then it is over...Knowing now they are not expanding the original footprint of the ride, I wonder what kind of attraction this will be... Norwegian culture and history along with a Frozen storyline is a lot to accomplish in a ride this short...Which is fine if it's presented as "here is how Norway influenced Frozen" like they do in the Stave Church exhibit. For me it doesn't work when you throw a full on Frozen ride in the pavilion.

I agree. Something along the lines of TLM.Based on what we have heard, I am thinking this is going to be a ride that does a straight up re-telling of the movie storyline and will not try to present Norwegian culture.
To be fair, I never really got much "Norwegian culture" out of the old ride, either. Trolls and oil rigs... that's about it. Will there be a video after the ride in the old theater? "Olaf explains how Norway provided ideas and inspirations for Frozen"?Based on what we have heard, I am thinking this is going to be a ride that does a straight up re-telling of the movie storyline and will not try to present Norwegian culture.
That is really disappointing if that is true...Based on what we have heard, I am thinking this is going to be a ride that does a straight up re-telling of the movie storyline and will not try to present Norwegian culture.

Just a reminder for everyone, here is Staggs quote from the DPB. "The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film. "Based on what we have heard, I am thinking this is going to be a ride that does a straight up re-telling of the movie storyline and will not try to present Norwegian culture.
I agree.... I like it better when attractions are unique and new or at least present a new take on the story. For me, a retelling of the story doesn't really add anything. That is really disappointing if that is true...
Lately they havent even been able to retell a story without making it a confusing hot mess.I agree.... I like it better when attractions are unique and new or at least present a new take on the story. For me, a retelling of the story doesn't really add anything.
