Ah classic Finance. I guess I have to Let my Maelstrom love fade away into the abyss ....
Just replace it with the entertainment value you get when people state the allegedly logical reasons as to why this is entire overlay was a good idea.
Here's a scarier part for you...this won't 'become a thing'....it's already 'the thing'Personally, I think this is a very bad idea, and here is the scary part. Epcot is in dire need of new attractions and Frozen is such a popular IP right now that I don't see how this project can really fail. The ride does not even need to be all that great. My worry is that Disney will see this success and use it as a precedent for future development in WDW.
Truth is, a very well done ride that compliments the Norway pavilion and pays, at least, some homage to Norway could be a very nice addition. But I just fear this becoming 'a thing'.
Well at EPCOT it has become a thing, I suppose. So sad.... I can only hope with Pandora and (a hopefully well done) SW + Pixar at DHS Disney might see the light and give EPCOT the redo it deserves at some point. Here's a scarier part for you...this won't 'become a thing'....it's already 'the thing'
The only way I see this "failing" is people waiting hours for the ride and then getting off thinking, "that's what we waited so long for?" The Maelstrom layout is not at all suited for something like this and I'm prediciting it'll be painfully obvious how shoehorned the ride is in that space.Personally, I think this is a very bad idea, and here is the scary part. Well I suppose that many people here live in the states where this past winter has been a very unwelcomed guest. And the fact that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on February 2nd and is predicting six more weeks of the current frozen maelstrom would make many people unhappy. But things will warm up. I tend to agree with Staten Island Chuck who has predicted that an early spring is approaching. If it's a win for everyone I'm starting to question who I am exactly, because I'm definitely not part of this "everyone" you speak of Same goes for a good number of other people.
So what happens when Frozen begins to not be cool with the kids anymore? To me it will be stale quicker than we think... Nothing like having an attraction that is based on a movie that was popular at one time...
Yeah, can you imagine?
Although I am guessing you enjoy Swiss. I for one think its wasted space and simply an area all the little rug-rats and run around in. But to me SFR isn't an attraction and obviously not an actual ride, whereas Frozen will be.
I don't care for it (it may as well be called "Stairs: The Attraction!"), but many on this board do.
Disneyland doesn't have it much better. It was rethemed to Tarzan, a film Disney doesn't seem to remember making either (although it did have a TV show in the early 2000s and a direct-to-video midquel, plus a sequel if that compilation movie based on the show qualifies).
A Broadway musical that flopped for many of the same reasons Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark did no less.Until 2010, Tarzan was #3 on the list of WDAS's top grossing films, right behind Lion King and Aladdin. It also had top selling soundtrack and a Broadway musical.
This is kind of my thought as well. By the time this is open to ride, I think a good majority of the Frozen obsession will have subsided. Disney has been shoving it in our faces for so long that I believe people are starting not to care as much at this point. Thats not to say people won't still like it. They just might not be willing to waste a day waiting for the ride and meet and greet, especially if the ride is just sort of Meh.....So what happens when Frozen begins to not be cool with the kids anymore?
