Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I boggles my mind how many people are just willing to accept all change. I think this is the true definition of "sheep" and the powers that be just love these people because they can do anything they want without being questioned.
Sigh, maybe its the desperation due to NO change, that makes me more open to ANY change.

Fact is fact, does Frozen really fit in Norway. No, it does not. Should the ride be restaged as Frozen, no probably not.

At the same time, as stated before, I am fine with some Disney contemporary acceptance in the WS. Having a very fancy M&G and tying in movies I can live with. Do I want China to become Mulan land, no. America to be Fox and hound or Lady and the Tramp land no, nor do I want England to be Marry Poppins world either. But to add to those areas with some type of movie M&G tie in to make it easier for younger kids to get into it....isn't so bad to me.

I am hoping beyond all hope this is the first step in some vitally needed upgrades. As I hope there will be more upgrades at DHS one of my favorite parks at DHS.

I also am a realist, and don't expect things to remain true to original vision, as the world changes, and so does what consumers want.

well, lets make a long story shorter then. if TPTB want to put these things into WS, then they really need to change the Plaque up front to denote the NEW Direction of Epcot. as long as the mission statement stays the same, there will be no end to the 'cheapening' and 'loss of vision' comments here and elsewhere. Come on Disney, make the change in direction something people can get behind

::::EDIT:::: LOLZ Loos of vision, like the toilets need glass fronts or something

Wait what? It's going to be a castle? It's not going to blend in with Norway's current architecture?
they will probably merge the backstages of both donald and Elsa (for air/c and suit changes..etc..)

on the bright side.. the long lines wont be destroying the tiny norway pavilion. All by having its own M&G building entrance separate.

It's time to accept the fact that Epcot theme park's future is what's happening to Norway. That's what the current fans want and that's what they will get. Us classic EPCOT Center fans will have to live with it.

In all due respect... This thread is over 280 pages long. I've been following it, hit or miss, since it started. The VAST majority of posts are beating the dead horse of why the conversion shouldn't happen. Do I like it? No. But it's happening.

Maybe it's time for a second thread - one dedicated to ONLY construction updates, news, and rumors and leave this one for those who want to express their opinions about the appropriateness of Frozen in Epcot and the associated general Epcot is going to Hell in a handbasket comments. For the record, I HATE what is happening to Epcot, but when I'm looking for NEWS (and rumors) about the latest "project", sifting through a hundred or more "complaint" comments to find an occasional piece of information is very frustrating...

I'm not sure why you are quoting me? I have repeatedly said that I would like to know about the project and am tired of the complaining. I got attacked repeatedly, earlier in this thread, for saying just what you have said.

My criticism had nothing to do with that. I was frustrated by the person that was doubting something someone said about the project and asking for proof when the "proof" had been posted on the 1 or 2 pages before. I get frustrated that people feel no need to check to see if something has already been discussed recently before jumping in. I get that you wouldn't necessarily read all 300 pages but I would expect people to read the last few pages of posts at least.

Fear of change, and expectation of disappointment. Sadly no hope exists around here much.

Change for the sake of improvement is almost always good. See: HM updates, Pandora at DAK, Storybook Circus.

Change for the sake of change, usually to pet someone's ego, is nearly always bad, and later requires an expensive investment to fix the problem. See: Imagination, Horizons, Space Mt, DCA 1.0 and 1.5, Stitch, etc.

Simply decrying "change" is too simplistic.

So where exactly will Norway be present when all is said and done? A small corner of the gift shop?
Between that and Akerhus, there's not much left. But in all seriousness, I'd expect the latter to be more related to the Arendelle takeover than before. About all that will then probably remain will be the architecture that "inspired" the movie....

So, the new building does not connect to the Norway Pavilion in any way? Is it possible they simply did not include the construction of the connection in that permit?

Since so many people have begun to claim "this will get children interested in Norway", I feel the need to ask how they expect that conversation to go down without confusing the child? What kid is gonna ask anything about Norway when they are in a fantasy world of Arrendelle? You would have to force upon them the fact that they are in a pavilion designed to resemble Norway which is what Arrendelle was 'inspired' by. So while your kid is wetting their pants with excitement about seeing Anna and Elsa they are supposed to soak up knowledge you force upon them that is also somewhat confusing to them. Or you could tell them while your waiting in line for an hour to ride the new ride... because that is a great time to teach your kid a history lesson. /sarcasm

Any kid that visits the Norway pavilion will want to visit Arrendelle, not Norway, but even if you do take them to Norway, now they will be expecting to see ice castles, princesses and snow monsters....because thats what they saw in the (Frozen) Norway ride at Disney World .

No, they would have to show something like that on the plans. You can also see that the new building doesn't go up next to the Maelstrom building. So to connect them they would either have to connect to the existing gift shop, or run a structure further back to connect to the Maelstrom building. Both of these options would cut off the access path next to Norway.

Could they reverse the entrance/exit of maelstrom at all?

They could do anything they want with Maelstrom. I would say it's good bet that the inside gets re-configured in some way to accommodate a large queue. Removal of the movie is one possibility that has been thrown around.

I just want to keep my pavilion mullet dream alive. Have the exit dump in to Norway back to the "real world" and keep Arendelle hidden.
