Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I feel like it's foolish to shove every cartoon into Fantasyland considering that Disney's animation output has diversified a lot in terms of genre since Walt died and that Fantasyland's had that whole European village/Medieval Fair/fairy tale aesthetic from the start that a lot of the animation output at the time could fit comfortably in but doesn't necessarily speak for everything since.

Not to mention the "Fantasyland is the cartoon ghetto" rule people insist on has been broken since day one with Slue Foot Sue and Pecos Bill at the Golden Horseshoe.

I'll correct myself a bit and say movies like Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph wouldn't fit that well. But a movie like The Lion King would should they decide to do it. Like I said I do like and even prefer the idea of it being in Animal Kingdom but would Pride Rock really look that out of place in Fantasyland? Especially New Fantasyland?

It'd feel kinda weird in Fantasyland considering the thematic overlap a Lion King ride would have with the Jungle Cruise. Plus you know, that Adventureland expansion plot's been waiting for years for something to fill it.

I'd prefer Indiana Jones or a new mountain to go in Adventureland. Lion King could go to Animal Kingdom.

Fantasyland is the only place that the princesses make sense thematically , you couldn't or shouldn't put them in say, Tomorrowland, Frontierland... Epcot? and while Lion king used to have a show in Fantasyland, he could also go in Adventureland or AK. If they fill up Fantasyland with a lot of non-princess stuff, they start putting princesses in places they don't really fit... like Norway

It's set in the bayous outside of New Orleans and in present day to when the film was released.

Also, Dalmatians is set in 1950s London.

101 Dalmatians could fit in Fantasyland, well, better than anywhere else. or if we are going to animate the World Showcase why not the United Kingdom pavilion since it takes place in London. I'm anti animating the World Showcase but I feel that Epcot desperately needs more attractions and I'm all for them as long as they make sense (not Frozen)

Take a proposed Lion King ride, the Nemo ride in Epcot, and a Rescuers Down Under ride (which probably nobody under the age of 30 remembers existing) and put them in Animal Kingdom and you might actually have a more complete park.

Well also since Peter Pan is in London too, I think 101 dalmatians would be perfect. Perhaps if one day they make a mini land somewhere based on London with Peter pan, 101 dalmatians, Mary Poppins and maybe even Great Mouse Detective( despite its' unpopularity)

I think Nemo works fine on the Living Seas, it is a hook to encourage people to explore the pavilion. I think they were originally going to put an aquarium in Animal Kingdom but realised its pointless when Epcot already has one. There is a Nemo show at AK and Epcot needs the ride more than AK does. Moving the whole aquarium to AK would leave Ep very short of attractions.

I'm undecided on characters in World Showcase, I think somethi is needed to encourage people in nowadays. But I don't think converting the whole Norway pavilion feels right. But if they used 101 Dalmatians (for example) as a hook to present a ride that tours the UK then that sounds like a great idea. But then for rides around London Madame Tussaud's London has a great example. I also understand that without the countries or businesses funding the pavilions the original Epcot park idea doesn't work, but there needs to be a happy medium between a draw to getting people in and a takeover completly.

As I already said so Epcot doesn't need characters, it needs a way to mix education with entertainment. But that's not how I see it with characters. Nemo could even have a cool undersea area at AK with a dark ride, spinner, musical and maybe even a coaster or so.

A mini land/expansion for the UK pavilion was planned pre Millennium Village/World Showplace. It was to feature the rooftops of London - with a chimney sweep dance group, a replica of Alice's curious labyrinth from DLP and I believe a flat ride or two

Yeah, but how often do we see that happen? The only reason we got the Tiki Room back is because of a fire. Nemo is still in The Seas almost 10 years on. Nigel Channing is still running Imagination into the ground 16 years on. 1990s Ellen, Trekek, and old-school Jeopardy still sits un-updated in Energy after 18 years. Stitch took over Alien Encounter 11 years ago.

I think the only reason as to why Stitch is still there is because the Imagineers were so proud of it. Seriously, look at how much promotion there was for it: Stitch was on the monorail, there was a stage show at the castle, there were signs for the ride everywhere... Name one other attraction that got so much promotion.

As for Imagination, I think we'll probably get it back at some point. A lot of the Imagineers seem to have realized that getting rid of Dreamfinder was a mistake. Tony Baxter even asked when Dreamfinder was coming back at the D23 Expo!

That's not completely true. I have never heard a Disney or theme park fan say, I don't wanna go there, only I really think it looks awesome! The problem is, is that 1. it can be pretty expensive to go to Japan 2. Many people just don't feel attracted to Japan at all

Is the overlay of the maelstrom actually going to be a re-telling of the story of Frozen or a new story where you just go to Arendelle to see what happened after summer was brought back?
