Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Again without rehashing the same debate about "doesn't belong" I will say this. It's obvious Disney is trying to capitalize on the Frozen craze in the near term. My assumption all along is that Disney is looking at this as "Where can we get Frozen into our parks RIGHT NOW?". EPCOT, being the only park without and short term plans that we know of, is in dire need of something new to attract people in. That is why I said while you may or may not agree with it, it really is the only reasonable place to put an attraction that fit the timeline they wanted. That, and there were already issues with funding for the Norway pavilion.

Very well thought out and accurate post.

Putting the actual franchise aside, I believe that the Frozen attractions will cater to a crowd that was previously less interested in Epcot. I get why people are upset in terms of where it's going and how it will redefine the park, but from a business perspective, it wasn't a bad decision. Of course putting in a 200 million dollar mountain behind Japan would have been way better, and I'm not going to argue that by any means. I would prefer that World Showcase remain real. However, parents with daughters from the ages of 3-10 will love this addition and spend lots of money at the stores around it. Since Disney's a business, this project won over the others.

We can still go enjoy Test Track (I know some purists don't like that either) and the rest of the World Showcase while it's still here while the families with little girls go enjoy something they didn't have before at this park. I believe Epcot will still be a great theme park when it's all done with plenty to do for everyone. I know that's subjective based on each person, but that's my two cents.

Ok. I understand initial reactions. I understand someone expressing displeasure over a decision Disney has made that brings changes to one of the parks.

What I don't get is the continued whining and reasoning and arguing the case over and over and over again. At this point, what does one hope to accomplish? Disney isn't going to read your posts and change its mind.

So, the choice now is to embrace the change or, at least tolerate it, and wait and see what happens. Or decide that it's too much for you and stop visiting Epcot.

It's a discussion board...not a beat a dead horse board.

I'm only one little person...and a newbie to boot...but I for one would like to have a thread to chat about the changes and stay up to date, not to wade through pages of repetitive bitter rants...I say as I come to the end of my own rant. :)

And I'm sure these words will make no difference at all (but it had to be said) so carry on...

It's a discussion board and discussion sometimes ends up being really negative. It's a sore subject for the majority and the only people who aren't upset about it are people that never hated the idea to begin with.

I'm among those who will not go to wdw in general but I'm the minority. People are easier to please now more than ever and they don't mind that Disney is playing down to them. Easy money is easy money.

People no longer have to accept this decision than they have to accept your supposed rationale for the changes. Open discussion and all that....

here here. Two discussion loops that go on forever: DVC and Epcot Theming. At least the old dead horse topics are mostly dead dead now: Magic Bands, BAH - the clock has finally ticked, No construction at WDW while UNI goes crazy, Avatar sucks and isn't happening, oh and WDW Marvel.

Personally, I'm not crazy about another princess meet and greet (obviously not the target demographic), though it is probably better to have a dedicated facility rather than a small space with a line that snakes out the door blocking foot traffic. Especially with the new ride also likely to elicit long lines.

I have to say though, the news would be much easier to deal with if it came alongside the announcement of a new country or two at Epcot. :) After the better part of two decades, a new country in WS is probably what I would like to see built more than anything else at WDW, even if it didn't have a ride attached. I just like wandering around the multicultural scenery. Sighs, maybe one day...

But if we embrace or tolerate it then we are sending the message that these types of changes are ok. Yes, we might not be able to change it, that doesn't mean we should accept it. I have brought this up before, but there was a book a company I worked for had me read a while back called "Who Moved My Cheese". It was all about how people need to accept and embrace change. The problem with it is that it is written from the perspective that you have no control over change and should always just accept it which is exactly what management wanted.

Negative, Ghostrider.

You don't think the post he is referring to is accurate? I think it's right on the money, this is Disney trying to quickly cash in on Frozen in the easiest way possible. This in my opinion is not a good thing. If Disney has always gone after the quick buck they would be where they are today.

I've seen rock work in the plans... Elsa's castle on top?
I personally hoped that Elsas castle wont be like the be our guest, I want to actually go IN the thing; be our guest personally was a rip off, a tiny model on the top of the castle and all we get is the dining room at best. At least we can walk through Cindy's castle; I'd personally want Elsas ice palace be her meet and greet location
