Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I guess I am too open minded. I am a huge disney fan, and have spent the last 6 years visiting Disney world.

That being said, Epcot is my least favorite. Why? Lack of changes.

For those here who are purists I get it, I understand the frustration of change for change sake, and the loss of the main theme for which WS was developed. That being said, I hope you don't lose the fact that Disney in and of itself is a world of fantasy. Meant to be a way to get away from what is, and focus on what could be.

Deep in my heart, I am hoping beyond hope, that this is a trend. What trend? A tie in to what IS Disney to what IS the real world.

My point: Norway was not the whole model for Arendell for Frozen. But it is a close match. So could this be the plan....take an existing foriegn land, and find the tie in with a fantasy movie that is close? I hope so.

I hope that way we see maybe in the future:
England - and an attraction to Peter pan or Mary Poppins...OH WAIT - isn't there a Mary Poppins M&G now?? Hmmm..

China and Mulan would be great to have some type of tie in
Canada and Brother bear??
American Pavilion - oh heck we could choose many, but a classic like lady and the Tramp?

My point is, they need to update this, and do it in Disney style. Make the tie in so you SEE what the real world is like and other cultures, but also tie in some fantasy items like what Disney films tie in.

I know this is not a popular idea, and there are many purists who will frown on this. But I think this would be a great way to revitalize a lagging park, and bring even more younger families in.

then my hopes are the Baymax tie in with Innovations rumors are true, as that would be a great tie in and fit as well.
Love your ideas!!!

I'd be interested in seeing these "plans," cause I sure haven't seen rockwork.

If they can get the rights from Universal I think American Adventure should be re-themed to Captain America: The First Avenger because kids today need to be taught about how the US helped defeat Red Skull.

You're being facetious, but a small exhibit about comics in WWII might be nice. Before Pearl Harbor, most of America was incredibly reluctant to enter a war; some in this country were even sympathetic to Germany. The comic industry was the first major media to say, "Hitler's a jerk; we should give him what-for!'

You don't think the post he is referring to is accurate? I think it's right on the money, this is Disney trying to quickly cash in on Frozen in the easiest way possible. This in my opinion is not a good thing. If Disney has always gone after the quick buck they would be where they are today.
Oops. I thought I had replied to a different post.(the one by snarlymonkey) Was in the car and wife was telling me get off the phone. My mistakr. Apologies to @SJN1279 and @DisDan. And thanks @danlb_2000

It has become obvious that the parks are about showcasing different Disney IPs in different environments. Go back a couple decades and fantasy and fiction was found at Magic Kingdom, science and discovery were at Epcot Center. You didn't see loads of Disney themed stuff in Epcot Center. Now Epcot is just another Disney theme park to place IPs.

That is exactly the reason I loved EPCOT Center. First visit was 1983. Seems like all Disney is trying to do these days is give me more and more reasons to not want to go to EPCOT any more. They have more than enough room and more than enough money to do things like this at MK or other appropriate places as the theme may fit. There seems to be a general disdain felt for people like me who actually like the science and discovery "world's fair" feel of EPCOT.

I wonder what happened to Parks and Resorts that making everything into MK 2.0 was the goal? WDW has 4 theme parks. Why can't they be different? I just spent 10 days in Orlando at a conference and meetings. Of that time I spent evenings or full days at EPCOT 7 days. I spent 1 day at MK. DHS and DAK were both mornings in which I spent the remainder of the day at EPCOT. There are 5 "Magic Kingdoms" around the world (with #6 on the way). There is only one EPCOT. Lets see some uniqueness for goodness sake. Disney used to like making unique places for guests of all different tastes. Now all I see is castles and princesses being pushed. Are they that lazy, or are they actually out of ideas?

Please forgive if it's been brought up, I'm many pages behind...

But what if they're moving the entrance to maelstrom...err, what once was maelstrom to this new building, creating a ride queue long enough to link new building to old building....

Wasn't it mentioned that the former loading area was being changed into a show scene?

Aside from the meet n greet, I can see this happening in this big space.

And if it was mentioned already, please disregard.

There is nothing on the plans to indicate that this is going to happen. The new building is not connected in any way to the existing pavillion buildings.

Instead of rotating princesses, which is what the MK's meet and grope is for, how about, you know, Olaf? Or is WDW treating him as special events only already?
