CPs have bills just like anyone else. I personally don’t have college loans, but a lot of my friends have college loans they have to repay. I don’t appreciate the fact that we’re being treated as though we weren’t really working. I was fortunate enough to get a ride back home but others weren’t so lucky and had to scrape up the money to get back home with less than a week.

I do not appreciate the implication that we deserve what’s coming to us and that we deserve to experience hardship simply because we’re young.

I don't think anyone deserves to experience hardship but from my experience when living in less than ideal conditions made me put on my big boy pants and made me a more determined person to keep fighting and not giving up.

I don’t think you realize that CPs just lost their job. A lot of them aren’t there on their parent’s money. Some of them use the CP to escape abusive households and may end up going back if they have nowhere else.

I doubt you’d have this much criticism for someone who works at a retail store and got fired, saying that it would be a good reality check for them. CPs lost their housing and their job in one fell swoop.

I’ve certainly met CPs with the entitled attitude, but that is in the VAST minority. Please have some empathy because a lot of them spent a lot of resources to get there and may not have a good support network.
Losing your job beyond your control sucks. Working for a corporation and demanding bosses that demands and expects more from you in a very stressful environment, getting laid off and having 15 minutes to pack your things, not allowed to say your goodbyes and being escorted to your car by security to ensure you leave the company parking lot is not good too. It's all real world examples. Just keep fighting and not lose hope. Take care of your health because when your health declines, all bets are off. It is a lot more difficult handling stress when one is not healthy.

I don't think anybody here doesn't appreciate how hard DCPers get worked for the paltry money they get. I know I do -- if there had been a DCP when I was in college I probably would have applied.

But I thought the main thrust was getting real life work experience while amassing some kind of credit to further your education.

I didn't know it was just a cheap labor pool for Disney.

Ah. I see. So instead of a "college program," it was a "jobs program."
A lot of the DCP’s think they are coming to WDW to do something that applies to their degree to find out it’s not even close. The professional internships are more in line to working in the corporate world. You feel bad for some of them.

It’s both... I mean you could go to your local college and say “oh so instead of a college program it’s a football program” you don’t learn how to further your degree by playing football in college. It’s an experience.

All the CPs I worked with were hospitality majors including myself. But yes some CPs do the program and it has nothing to do with what they are studying in college.

What do you guys think about colleges this fall? I wonder if I will be back on campus. Of course this has to happen during "the best years of my life" LOL
