Disney Character Dance Party

My friend told me that they were starting a new thing at AK. It is called the Disney Character Dance Party. But it is only on EMH nights.

I haven't heard anything about it yet, but my guess is that it will be similar to one of the "dance parties" held during the Pirate and Princess party.

I thought you were talking about the Toon Town character dance party. I'm not sure what the requirements are for it to happen. I want to say it is when the line has been exhausted and there is still time left till the park closes. Then they bring all the characters out into County Bounty tent and play dance music. It isn't a meet and greet. It is a meet and play. Princesses lead the conga line. Mickey and Minnie dance with each other. It is a fun time depending on who you ask.

At MGM during EMH Evening hours they have the Playhouse Disney Dance Party. It's basically a DJ and balloon artists for the kids and there are a bunch of characters (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Jojo, Goliath, Owie and Zoie) ... at least those are the characters from earlier this summer.... it may have changed...

Anyhow, it has been such a huge hit that they are doing the same thing at Dinoland USA. I don't know when it will open but it will basically be the same concept. :wave:

Sounds like a fun little stroller brigade trap (so shorter lines for the rest of us).

But, has the entire Disney Co. fired anyone with an ounce of creativity regarding naming things? I mean, what's next? Disney's Restaurant. The Roller Coaster featuring Vehicles. The Shop at Magic Kingdom. :hammer:

Why would you say "not any more they don't"? I'm not in Toon Town every night, but about 2 months ago they did one. I don't see it happening in the summer, but when the crowds slow down, I bet it happens again. Since November, I've been to 2 dance parties.

And just so you know, we are talking about 2 different things. The one at MGM is a planned ongoing event. The one at ToonTown is a spur of the moment happening if the situation calls for it.

Belle would be at the one at Toon Town, but not at AK or MGM.

the dance party is in ariel's grotto in mk. i was there sun night at emh, and a bunch of characters were there dancing to a dj, including goofy, pluto, chip & dale, terk, mickey, and more.

The Playhouse Disney Dance Party has been around for months now. It's been a huge hit and some of the guests have said that it was hands down the best experience they had in all the parks. It's very personal and fun for them. It's pretty much from 10pm-1am (the EMH times at MGM) but I have heard they're running tests to sort of make it start and then end earlier because toward the end of the night the kids are usually tired as hell and there's not too many people there in general. I imagine it'd be for staffing reasons as well as the fact that since the Playhouse soundstage stops running shows so early they might as well use it earlier in the night.

Yeah, I can confirm that at Magic Kingdom Extra Magic Hours are now turned into a dance party. But, i'm not sure if it's permanent for AK either. I know it is for MK and MGM though!
