But it's been kind of a jerky motion along the way...

He came back no doubt to clean up the mess. His first exit he left behind Disney at it's peak, he's now come back to a complete shambles. Was Snow white, Captain America, the last phase of Marvel all green lit by him or Chapek? The quality has been dire. Added into the equation Star Wars seems to be in a bit of a mess creatively too.

It will take time to correct everything. They can still juice alot of old Pixar favourites, get Star Wars back to a creative force, and sort out Marvel.

Just hope no weakness or panic sets in and they start to offer some stimulus in the parks to locals to get numbers up.

Disney stock price is around the 2015 mark. Still pretty high, albeit down from the peak years they were having with Marvel and their animination studios. Anyone with any knowledge of Disney history knows their stock price was at an all time low years before 2015, this is nowhere near that.

Captain America, Snow White have obviously become embroiled in some political controversy in America, bad word of mouth on the actual movies, so they had to get these films out the way.

Not sure who green lit those films, was it Iger or Chapek ? But with Iger at the helm you can see a steady pair of hands guiding them back to prominance. Hoping he remains vigilant on local free loaders on yearly passes.
Chapek was not around long enough to do Anything

Iger appointed the board…and came slithering back under pretense when the coast was clear

I think it’s busier because they condense everything into shorter days and it’s harder to find times that have lulls like early morning and late night. My best Disney experiences have all been late night or early morning because of lower crowds.

I’d be interested in hearing if there is a difference in overall ride capacity now compared to 20 years ago though. Would be interesting to see just how that has changed over time. I imagine it went up despite the general forum perception.
Bullseye

It’s not adjusting for parks hours that has kinda put the stink on the whole operation

I do have to wonder how much LLMP plays into the parks feeling crowded as well. With guests now paying for what used to be free, instead of eating between attractions, I'm guessing many are wandering the walkways waiting.

I’m still searching for the “mobs” being reported daily since 2022…

It’s as if people don’t know what they’re looking at and the games being played…but that can’t be?

Exactly how are these new expansions adding capacity? Aside from Villains Land, they're all replacements. Tropical Americas is replacing Dinoland (three rides replacing three rides, although one of them was removed years earlier to be fair), Monstropolis is adding a new ride but replacing Muppets, Cars is replacing the riverboat... it's not exactly adding capacity if we have the same amount of capacity after these expansions have been completed.
it still had 20,000 Leagues
Actually, we had an empty lagoon. The ride closed in 1994.

As I recall, Snow White was greenlit in either 2015 or 2016. So, it was Iger.

Land that was once not used for attractions but now is, or will be soon...
  • Ratatouille and its plaza
  • TRON
  • Villains' Land and its two rides
  • Encanto's ride building
  • Monstropolis ride
  • Cosmic Rewind gravity building
  • Journey of Water

Not to mention going back a few more years:
  • Soarin's' second theater
  • Space 220
  • Frozen Summerhaus
  • Toy Story Land
  • Star Wars Land
  • Starcruiser (RIP)

It may have been green lit in 2016, but who was making the creative decisions when it was going into production?

Found nothing controversial about the film incidentally .... just very boring.

Ratatouille: OK
Tron: OK
Villains Land: Losing Riverboat and TSI
Encanto: Lost Primevil Whirl
Monstropolis: Ok
Cosmic Rewind: Lost UOE
Journey of Water: Ok

So that’s 4 net new attractions in how many years?

Go back 5 years and DIS is up 3%.
And what is the overall market?

Is DIS supposed to be a drag on it? Never…unheard of.

Next time…just assume we know you love Bob and this is one of your daily loyalty oaths to him…HAIL!!…and don’t bother with excuses about Disney plus costs and Covid as to the reasons now gone as to why the investors STILL aren’t interested in them.

They’re not a good bet…which means you roll over the management and get some new blood

Economics 101

I was in town last week and it was beautiful…great weather…fun times…and not at all high attendance…during “busy season”…

You should have visited me at wildnerness lodge so we could have paid pool trivia together…what a shame

Replacements are not increases in capacity…

…keep swinging, slugger ⚾

Not everything on his list is a replacement. And a replacement can be an increase in capacity depending on what it’s replacing.
So what if it takes them 5+ years to construct it…and the attendance rises as it normally does over time…

The elephant in the room is this routine doesn’t plan for the future or address flexibilty…and that’s why it’s not working

It’s an illusion to “provide for the customers” while maintaining the financial pressure of scarcity on them to turn the screws.

It’s genius’s strategy since 2008 that he won’t give up…further proving he needs to go like yesterday. It worked at first because he had the lead given to him by Mikey - worst guy ever - because of the
Strategy prior. In wdw at least…Disneyland needed work and it’s better today than then. Not the swamp.

I just got off the plane..so my memory is rather “sharp” this morning
