I always felt that a clone emperor would be one of the major characaters/plot points. When you thin about it, the emperor is more important to the movies than Anakin/Vader is. The Emperor created the universe we became familiar with, vader was merely a pawn in it.

Oh my, I hope that's not true. The Star Wars saga has always been the story of Vader, or so Lucas has said. This is ridiculous though, although they haven't said what time period the films would be set. We may be getting Episodes 3-1/4, 3-1/2, and 3-3/4. Lol! Then again, they had 2 Death Stars didn't they... Why not 2 Vaders? That has to be an Internet rumor and nothing more. I hope!

Blomkamp has the inside track right now for director but 3 other people, Bird,Reeves and Trank are in the running. Matt Vaughn was the director initially wanted but he wouldn't commit to 3 film deal.excpect the announcement within the next month possibly sooner. Depends if info leaks or not. Also don't be surprised if Katie Lucas gets a story credit, this is a collaboration between the 2.

I don't know people. According to George Lucas Vader is an important part of the story. I think that we are going to see his ghost form and that's it.

Vader will not be in the new movies, that story is over.
Now, you could have reoccurring themes from the skywalker story. Hero's journey, redemption...but no resurrection of vader.

I think a Blomkamp/Arndt or Bird/Arndt SW movie can go ahead an be slotted, at least, right under Empire sight unseen. Awesome news if true ... I don't mind Reeves either ... Trank has one movie under his belt, I'd like to see more (and I assume Disney would too) before giving him the reigns.

It will be cool to see Katie Lucas involved. She has written some pretty good Clone Wars episodes.

Wasn't Vader "redeemed" at the end of episode six and returned to being Anakin Skywalker? If Disney would break Lucas's canon then the EU has no hope! :( (Though I have a feeling the "source" is just pullin legs). I would hope that the new movies take place between Crucible and Legacy but I could settle for a Post NJO movie.

He probably has seen a script, or at least head what the intended story will be (which likely contradicts the EU). M.rudolf apparently has insider information on the Disney company (so then by extent, Lucasfilm).

I was under the impression the EU wasn't canon from the start. I mean I've heard elements of it made it into the prequels and such (like planets or characters), but the stories themselves might not actually occur. I've never read any of the stories myself but i've looked up some of them (though I guess the Knights of the Old Republic and Force Unleashed video games count as EU and i've played those). The fanbase apparently are pretty divided about whether to accept them as canon or not. Many believe "if it didn't happen in the movies, it didn't happen at all". If this new series does contradict the EU in a huge way, then yeah the EU would be knocked off the canon.

Though it does seem that some of the EU material might actually inspire some of the canon material. I wonder to what extent though. From what M.rudolf has indicated, current story plans might include a clone (or clones) of the emperor. The emperor has apparently had a number of clones in the EU. If that happens then I hope they get someone awesome to play him, Ian McDiarmid always managed to steal the show and I couldn't take my eyes off of him whenever he was onscreen. If he's going to get a clone though i'd probably guess they'll end up getting a younger actor to play him. I'd imagine one of the points of a clone would be not being tethered to an aging body. I don't know what younger actor they could get to pull the role of youthful Palpatine off, but it would at least be interesting to see them try (if Ian himself didn't return).

Are any characters introduced in the EU going to appear at all such as Mara Jade, Anakin Solo, Jaina and Jacen, etc? Or are they all now completely non-canon?
