Disney at Christmas

I thought there should be an official topic on what you may do around your house at Christmas that portains to WDW? For me, it's setting up all my WDW monorail accessories around our tree. For those who may remember what I did last year:

I already have planned on what I'm going to do this year and am planning on sharing it with you all here again. For me, that's usually what brings the two together around here.

How about you? How do you decorate your tree / house with a touch of WDW? Thought we could all share with each other on what we usually do in a topic, especially with the holidays right around the corner.

Cool pic!

We have some of the Hallmark Disney ornaments on our tree each year, but that's about the extent of it. I have that same model of the RR station, but it's on a shelf in the second bedroom. I can't put it on the floor at the tree or the dogs would destroy it

My station sits on my bedroom dresser all year, between every Christmas season. I also found a home for my WDW sign on my shadowbox as well, so I can appreciate both year-round. Do you have any more of the monorail accessories?

Counting down the days till set-up! Less then a month away! :)

I don't have any other of the monorail accessories - unfortunately. My wife restricted me to the train station. In fact, we were there with our friends, and he and I were both looking at all the monorail "toys"....and we were both forbidden from bringing any home

Every yr when we go to WDW I pick up my tree decorations from the xmas store in DTD. So our tree is decorated with those and the ones I get from Hallmark.

In our front yr we have a huge inflatable Mickey globe. We have other items that sit around the house that are disney related but no trains or to the extent of what you have.

It's so cool to read what we all do around Christmas when it comes to WDW....it's just one of those parts of being a fan and take away the "blues" of not being there, being able to appreciate it in your home.

edwardtc - thats a shame about the monorail accessories. Why doesn't your wife like them?

mickeysshoes - thanks for the comment on my pic. Can't wait to share pics from what I plan on doing this year with you guys!

Great thread idea!

1) First and foremost we have probably 20 or so Hallmark Disney ornaments for the tree. Also on the tree, we have ornaments from our past trips to WDW. We make it a point to get 1 or 2 every trip, and have the year placed on the ornament. We always buy them from Ye Old Christmas Shoppe and always have them personalized. Last year was a beautful white ball with Cindy's castle on top in glitter and snow. Still my favorite!
2) My last trip to the Disney Store in New York City before it closed :)(), I bought a beautiful tree topper with classic Mickey/Minnie in front of the start.
3) Myself, DW, DD, and the dog each have our own personalized Disney stockings.
4) As far as outdoors: We purchased a Mickey Christmas flag, again from Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, and hang that on the flagpole.
5) Finally, we have several blow up lawn decorations, one of which is Tigger and Pooh in Christmas hats, and Tigger is pulling Pooh out of the honey pot, very cool

As you see, our family loves Christmas as much as we love our Disney, so putting them together is only natural right??

WDW-Crazy, I love the picture!

We have a regular Christmas tree, and then a smaller Disney Christmas tree that we buy a new ornament for each year. Each ornament has a memory for us.

We got our nephew the monorail set, which he leaves at his grandma's house (my mother). He never touches the thing, weird kid! So I think I may snag it & use it as a train this year. We have the mickey/minnie wreath, and doorknob hanger, xmas tree skirt, and a nice little collection of Jim Shore holiday pieces that I put on our mantle. I'll try to take some pictures this year.

We tend to be a little more "old-fashioned" when it comes to the ornaments on our tree. That being said, we do have a few wooden ones from Germany, and I've managed to sneak a couple of WDW ornaments on the tree each year as well......:)

We have one tree that's dedicated to Disney ornaments (Hallmark Disney ornaments, and those that we've purchased at the parks). I've got a Tinkerbell tree topper and a Cinderella tree topper that alternate on that tree. (I put up a total of four Christmas trees)

I also have a wreath that hangs in my kitchen that I decorated with ornaments I ordered from the Disney Catalog about ten years ago: Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet done in "gingerbread".

I've got another wreath that also hangs in the kitchen that is decorated with Hallmark ornaments that are a few years old, they are Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto with a cookie baking theme (Minnie's got a mixing bowl, Mickey's holding cookie sheet, Pluto trying to steal some cookie dough off the kitchen table) Ive added to it over the years as Hallmark puts out complementary ornaments (year before last, they did a light-up oven, this year a stand mixer)

I copied the whole "themed decorated garland" idea from WDW. Virtually every horizontal surface of my house has a themed garland on it, although none of them are themed specifically to Disney, except for the newest one, which will be in the same room with the Disney tree--next month, I need to buy some of the Mickey-head ornaments to make a garland for that room.

Once we all get our decorations up, we should come back here and post pictures.

Where did you get your Tinkerbell tree topper? I'd LOVE to have one of those! I have Cinderella and Ariel sitting on my dresser at home. Never bothered putting them on the tree....they're there to appreciate year-round! I'll have to post some pics this year when I go to take pics of my layout.

I ordered it from disneystore.com years ago, I got it on clearance and paid under $20 for it, and it is gorgeous!

It's worth checking out the clearance/outlet section of disneystore.com now and again, they often have some pretty good bargains.

Our house has become 100% Disney at Christmas. Our tree is all Disney ornaments, with a Mickey and Minnie tree skirt and a Mickey tree topper. We also have a Mickey's Tree Farm lantern we leave on the coffee table along with other Disney candle holders throughout the house. Once we have all the candles done, we have Disney stocking holders and we have around 25 Christmas themed stuffed characters we place all around the living room. I also wear a Mickey Santa hat and my wife wears a Goofy Santa hat throughout December. We go all out :)

We're going down in 31 days and plan on returning with as many new Christmas decorations we can stuff in our luggage!

You have a Tinkerbell tree topper too? I only found Cinderella and Ariel and that was it - lol. Haven't been too successful in finding other ones.

i bought the tink tree topper in the fall of 07 from the disney store online but i've been looking for something new...it doesn't have any kind of lighting on it so it's kind of dark at the top of the tree and one of her hands was lost on our 2008 christmas that we actually spent at wdw. we put up a little pink fake tree in our room that week but she didn't handle the trip as well as the rest of our stuff.

You're right, she can be a bit dark at the top of the tree, but I usually make sure to run a couple of bulbs from the string of mini lights up there with her, and it kind of works. :)
