Haha, "Industrial Gothic"? So that is what we are calling it now that "Steampunk" is passé.

A nice, yet unremarkable announcement (excepting Edison). But they did already unload the big guns with STK and Morimoto's so a good start on the retail side. Especially when you throw in The Art of Shaving, etc. But I do think they may have another Ace up their sleeve on the retail side. Probably not Harrod's, but unique style things like Uniqlo.

DS is going to be a pretty cool Lifestyle Center.
Steam punk to me is just hipsters that went off the reservation and have even creepier facial hair.

There has been a group of us joking that we should franchise one there, because it would be perfect.
If I remember right, they don't franchise, which is why it is only a joke.
Oh yeah, and the fact that I have no capital to offer so there is no way a bank would give me money...

Well Mr. Portillo sold the company last year to Berkshire for nearly $1 billion. I don't think they would've paid that if they hadn't planned on expanding

What do you guys think about the 13 new tenants announced today?

I personally think that they made great store and restaurant choices! While the stores aren't all Disney related stores, it brings in a great variety to draw people in! The restaurants that have been announced are creative and sound like they have a strong theme to give it that Disney feel. I am excited for more announcements and what Disney Springs finished outcome will be! :)
I think the choices are great. Disney Springs will put City Walk to shame. Can't wait for Christmas shopping.

I am glad they are doing a lot with Disney Springs. I liked it before but now they'll give you more incentive to want to stay on the property.

Yes, and also an area underground that extend out under the pathway in front of the AC building.

This is interesting because in the renderings posted on the Disney Parks Blog accompanying this announcement, AC looks to have retained the same facade. That style facade doesn't go with the Edison theming, so it will be interesting to see how they work those two together.

There is new art posted on the construction wall in front of Adventurer's Club that shows the power plant look. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow if someone can't find it online.

So basically I can now go to many of the stores that have been in NYC for over a decade in Disney Springs!!!

Yay!

Or I can still avoid that area when I go to Disney. And shop for the same merchandise at home without stuffing it in luggage then on a plane.

And hit up Morimoto 10 blocks from from home.

Ah the future is here just like Walt envisioned!

Sure, if you live in the NYC area or any fashion forward area for that matter, these stores aren't a big deal. But most people don't live in NYC, LA, Paris, etc.

We've always known the Town Center was going to try and garner high end brands that are unique to Orlando for the most part. Looking past the shops, i'm perfectly fine with this announcement for the simple fact that it confirms DS is getting more counter service/quick stop places to eat and The Edison also confirmed - The Edison being the biggest thing for me.

I think people coming from NYC or LA or SF may be unimpressed. The rest of the country will eat it up, as they've read about these places but not had the opportunity to experience them. As to Walt, the Village was intended to be something very different than it ended up being when the property opened, which is very different from today's morphing into a Lifestyle Center.

All that's missing is an Apple Store and it'll be like every upscale mall/ major city in the country.

(And I love Apple products- I'm typing this on my iPad as a matter of fact)

No. It's a Lifestyle Center. ;) I think a lot of people are expecting a lot from Edison.
The one thing I just hope people don't expect is it to be something akin to AC. And I know there's people on here who have voiced that they want it, but i'm not sure The Edison will be able to enforce a dress code. Maybe after 10 or something like that, but idk.

I will give it to Disney that they've built The Landing around upscale establishments, so more people will just naturally be dressed up, more locals maybe. The Edison obviously isn't aimed at the family with 2-3 kids and has been park hopping all day, so we're looking at the convention crowd, maybe weddings or the couple that came without kids. Locals will play a very minor role imo simply because when locals go "out" here, most don't dress to the 9's. Orlando is a town with a good % of people below the poverty line for goodness sake... it's not like LA where people dress up every time they step out just in case they're seen.

And all of that is if The Edison even enforces a dress code.

Agreed. I think people are expecting more out of Edison than they maybe should be. It all depends on how they decide to position Edison - as a restaurant, lounge or a hotspot...and unfortunately, this is a team that had a lot of trouble getting that right in LA. I think it's going to be tricky in Orlando, too.
